Obituary

Mr. Mandle Lee Johnson,  Sr. of 4935 West Road, Byromville, Georgia died Friday,  November 24, 2023 at the Cordele Health and Rehabilitation Center in Cordele,  Georgia.

The funeral service will be held Saturday, December 2, 2023 at 2:00 PM in the chapel of J. W. Williams Funeral Home in Cordele, Georgia.  The burial will follow at the Pleasant Hill Church Cemetery in Byromville, Georgia.

Everyone entering the funeral home for visitations or services is required to wear a mask and to practice social distancing.  A mask must be worn throughout the stay.  You must supply your own mask.

Mr. Mandle Lee Johnson, Sr. was born November 9, 1934 in Dooly County, Georgia.  He was to the late Mr. Sam and Mrs. Doretha Cheek Johnson.

As a child he worshipped with his family at the Greater Morris Tabernacle Baptist Church.

He was educated in the public schools of Mitchell County.  He also attended technical school, where he learned many skills that proved to be helpful to him throughout his life.

Never a stranger to work, he become the owner of Johnson Produce and was known throughout the state of Georgia.  Many traveled from other communities to purchase his produce.  He was known for always selling the highest quality of fruit and vegetables.  Some would just stop by to have a conversation and get a good laugh.

On Friday, November 24, 2023 he was set free from the cares of this life.  Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Mrs. Mae Lizzie Palmer Johnson; his daughter, Ms. Debra Felton; his grandson, Mandle Lee Johnson, III; and his brother, Mr. Mervin (Geraldine) Johnson.

His memory will live on the hearts of his loving and devoted children, Mr. Mandle Lee (Stephanie) Johnson, Jr. of Cordele, Georgia, Mr. Andrew (Bernice) Felton of Byromville, Georgia and Mr. Crandall Postell of Cordele, Georgia; his beloved stepdaughter, Ms. Gail Kelley of Cordele, Georgia; 14 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; his loving and  caring siblings, Mrs. Caldon Wallace of Vienna, Georgia and Mr. Jimmy Lee (Eva) Johnson of  Albany, Georgia; a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many sorrowing friends
