Loistene R.
Griffin
Oct 22, 1944 — Nov 4, 2024
Cordele
Mrs. Loistene Rockwell Griffin of 474 Williams Road, Cordele, Georgia passed away Monday, November 4, 2024 at the Piedmont Newnan Hospital in Newnan, Georgia.
The funeral service will be held Sunday, November 10, 2024 at 2:30 PM in the sanctuary of the Blue Spring Baptist Church in Warwick, Georgia. The burial will follow at the Mt. Zion Cemetery in Oakfield, Georgia.
Our beloved, Loistene Rockwell Griffin, was born October 22, 1944 in Warwick, Worth County, Georgia. She was born to Charlie Thomas Rockwell, Sr. and Ella Lee Curry Rockwell, both of whom precede her in death.
As a child, "Boot," as she was affectionately known, was educated in the public schools of Worth County. Introduced to the Lord at an early age, she lovingly exercised her faith as a member of Blue Spring Baptist Church. She was a devoted member of the choir and served on the church's kitchen committee also.
Loistene was the definition of a loving and devoted mother and grandmother; while she was very outspoken, she also took pride in spoiling those she loved dearly. She was a source of wisdom, care and protection, attributes that drew people to her.
When not worshiping, she enjoyed fishing, cooking and gardening. Her attitude and spirit were always positive and filled with an ability to laugh with her family and friends.
Loistene was joined in holy matrimony to Selmer Morris Griffin, Jr. and together they reared a loving family. He, along with their son, Mickey Griffin, daughter-in-law, Karen Newberry; and her siblings, Louise Freeman Griffin, Mae Ola Rockwell, Patricia Carter, Henry Rockwell, Johnny Rockwell, and James Rockwell, also precede her in death.
Loistene was delivered from all her earthly woes, no more pain and suffering on Monday, November 4, 2024 leaving cherished and loving memories to her loving and devoted children, Vonnie James Newberry of Sylvester, Georgia, Cheryl Griffin Limehouse (Sidney) of Senoia, Georgia, Danny Griffin, and Beverly Genever Griffin both of Cordele, Georgia; 14 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; her daughter-in-law, Annie Griffin of Americus, Georgia; her loving sisters, Ora Lee Morris of Warwick, Georgia, Dorothy Smith (Reverend Robert) of Oakfield, Georgia, Catherine Currelley of Ashburn, Georgia, Linda Felton (Reverend Willie James) of Cordele, Georgia, Vernice Johnson (Nehemiah) of Jonesboro, Georgia; Charlie Thomas Rockwell, Jr. (Earnestine) of Warwick, Georgia and Curtis Rockwell (Josie) of Leesburg, Georgia; her aunts, Ruby Curry of Sylvester, Georgia and Bessie Curry of Albany, Georgia; her sisters-in-law, Juanita Rockwell of Warwick, Georgia and Lilly Rockwell of Stone Mountain, Georgia; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many sorrowing friends, to include a devoted friend, Carolyn Thomas of Cordele, Georgia.
