Mr. Lester Lee Jones, Jr. of 1301 15th Street, South, Cordele Georgia died Saturday, August 24, 2024 at Crisp Regional Hospital in Cordele, Georgia.

The funeral service will be held Sunday, September 1, 2024 at 2:00 PM in the chapel of J. W. Williams Funeral Home in Cordele, Georgia. The burial will follow at Bethel Cemetery in Cordele, Georgia.

Lester Lee Jones, Jr. was born on December 30, 1948.  He was born to Lester Lee Jones, Sr. and Ruby Jenkins in Cordele, Crisp County, Georgia.  He peacefully transitioned from this life on Saturday, August 24, 2024.

He was educated in the public schools of Crisp County.  Later in his life, he went on to do further studying and earned certification in Bookkeeping and Accounting.

After his high school graduation, he enlisted in the United States Army.  He served his country well with honor and distinction.  Upon the completion of his period of enlistment, he was given an Honorable discharge.

He accepted the Lord, Jesus Christ as his personal Savior and united with People of Faith Christian Church.

A man who loved his family, Lester will be remembered as one who loved Jazz and Blues.  He also enjoyed cheering for his favorite football team, the Dallas Cowboys.  Whether eating his favorite snack, Honey Buns with an Arizona; spending money on his grandchildren; cutting grass; tending to his flowers; gardening; washing cars, or just being outside, you could always see his smile.

Lester was a dedicated and beloved employee of the Crisp County Board of Education.  He worked faithfully as a Custodian until his retirement.

His greatest joy was being a husband and father.  He, along with his wife, Jessie Mae shared their lives together until her passing on March 27, 2020.  He is also preceded in death by his son, Eli Kareem Jones and his siblings, Silas Jenkins and Minnie Felton.

Wonderful memories will live in the hearts of his loving and devoted son, Jervonny Jones, Sr. (Kendra R. Williams) of Cordele, Georgia; his beloved grandchildren, Au'Nya Jones, Christal Williams, Jaleah Jones, Janai Jones, Daquan Thomas, Jervonny Jones, Jr., and Ashton Williams all of Cordele, Georgia; his loving sisters, Christine Gaines, Ruby Jones, Ann Rouse, Jeanette Jones, and Gloria Jones all of Cordele, Georgia; his beloved brothers, Joe Jones (Jackie) of San Antonio, Texas, and Tony Jones (Trixie) of Atlanta, Georgia; his sisters-in-law, Mattie Jones (Morris), Bobbie Mason (Johnny), and Betty Lockette all of Cordele, Georgia; his brother-in-law, Eli Jones (Elaine) of Virginia; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many sorrowing friends, to include his co-workers, Zach Appling and Aaron Anderson.
