Mrs. Lessie Lewis Green of 511 East 18th Avenue, Cordele, Georgia died Saturday, September 16, 2023 at the home of her son.

The funeral service will be held Saturday, September 23, 2023 at 2:00 PM in the chapel of the J. W. Williams Funeral Home in Cordele, Georgia.  The burial will follow at the Evergreen Cemetery in Pinehurst, Georgia.

Everyone entering the funeral home for visitations or services is required to wear a mask and to practice social distancing.  A mask must be worn throughout the stay.  You must supply your own mask.

Mrs. Lessie B. Lewis Green, the daughter of the late Mr. Stephen Lewis and the late Mrs. Beatrice Johnson Lewis.  She was born February 2, 1947 in Dooly County, Georgia.

Lessie B. received her education in the public schools of Crisp County.  She was a graduate of A. S. Clark High School.

As a child she accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior.  She  was baptized and united with the Beulahland Baptist Church.   As an adult, she continued her commitment to Jesus Christ and united with he Church Christ.

For many years she was employed by Best Western of Cordele.  Lessie B. enjoyed shopping, cooking and visiting the elderly.  She would do anything for anybody.  Her kind and loving heart was always on full display.   She would spend other moments   working in the yard and planting flowers.

On Saturday, September 16, 2023, she surrendered to the will of the Lord.  Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, 1SG Archie Lee Green, who preceded her in death on June 6, 2016.  Her siblings, Ms. Linda Faye Lewis and Mr. Arthur James Lewis, also precede her in death.

Memories of her life will be cherished by her loving family:  her son, Mr. Andrew Green of Cordele, Georgia; her stepdaughter, Ms. Brenda Allen of Cordele, Georgia; her grandchildren, Mr. Stantavious Dawson and Ms. Veborah Dawson of Cordele, Georgia, Mrs. Nyesha King (Vincent) of Hawkinsville, Georgia and Mr. Feronte Allen of California; eight her  sisters, Mrs. Mary J. Akins (Deacon Charlie) and Ms. Jeanette Johnson of Cordele, Georgia and Ms. Janice Grinstead of Dayton, Ohio; her brothers, Deacon Eddie C. Lewis (Wilma), Mr. Bobby Lewis, Mr. Tommy Lee Lewis (Donna) and Mr. Calvin Lewis of Cordele, Georgia; her aunts and uncles, Minister Annie Merritt of Vienna, Georgia, Mrs. Bernice Hestle, Mr. Willie James Johnson and Mr. Roosevelt Smith of Cordele, Georgia, Mrs. Annie Lee Roundtree of Belle Glade, Florida, Mrs. Ella Mae Porter of Warner Robins,   Georgia and Mrs. Mary Sanders of Clearwater, Florida; her   in-laws, Mrs. Ruth (JD) Kearse of Cocoa Beach, Florida, Ms. Cheryl Green (Eddie) and Ms. Sonya Green of Cordele, Georgia and Mr. Rodney Green of Ormond, Florida; a host of nieces and nephews; many cousins, other relatives and many sorrowing friends, to include her childhood friend, Mrs. Diane Flood of Cordele, Georgia, Mrs. Elizabeth Buffington of Americus, Georgia and Mrs. Jeanette Shackleford of Temple, Georgia.
