Mr. Leroy Mitchell of 1617 Rainbow Drive, Cordele, Georgia died Wednesday, April 6, 2022 at Atrium Navicent Health in Macon, Georgia.

The funeral service will be held Saturday, April 16, 2022 at 11:00 AM at the J. W. Williams Funeral Home Porte Cochere in Cordele, Georgia.  The burial will follow at the Fort Early Church Cemetery in Warwick, Georgia.  Everyone in attendance is asked to please wear a mask and to practice social distancing.

On January 5, 1961 Leroy Mitchell was born to the late Mr. Willie C. Mitchell, Sr. and the late Mrs. Ruthie Lee Mitchell. He was born in Worth County, Georgia.

Leroy was educated in the Worth County Public School System.  He accepted Christ as his personal Savior and united with the Mount Moriah Baptist Church.

Leroy will always be remembered as a kind and caring individual who enjoyed decorating, cutting grass. He also enjoyed helping his children do things around their homes and being their for others when they needed him.

Family was very important to him and he believed in keeping family relationships strong.  He loved being around family,   especially his grandchildren,  He would often "preach" about God's love and his goodness.

On Wednesday, April 6, 2022, he peacefully transitioned from this life. He is also preceded in death by his siblings, Mrs.  Willie Ruth Porter, Mrs. Lavern Tellis, and Deacon Coley Mitchell.

Cherished memories of his life are left to his loving family, his wife, Mrs. Aline Mitchell of Cordele, Georgia; his children, Mr. Lee Andrew Brown, Ms. Latasha N. Brown (Dekia Appling), Mr. Antonio D. (Rhonda) Brown, Mr. Octavius M. Brown, Ms. Yatoria N. Brown (Miguel Jackson), Ms. Naqueria Rena Paulin (Sherima Wilder), Mr. Quontavius Brown (Lakeisha Thomas), Mr. Henry Brown (Arianna Hughes), Ms. Tinesha Brwon, Ms. Rashavian Brown (Courtney Johnson), and Ms. Jasmine Brown all of Cordele, Georgia; his grandchildren, Lashard Wesley, Dekia Appling, Jr., Nakhia Appling, Jamarion Harris, Janiya Frier, Alaysa Harris, Zykee Harris, Ka'mere Brown, Kaizen Brown, Leeyah Brown, Leevion Brown, Cashtyn Brown, Jacari Brown, Kha'mari Brown, and Navi Johnson; his sister, Mrs. Lela Westbrook of Cordele, Georgia; his brothers, Mr. Willie J. Mitchell of Cordele, Georgia, Mr. Willie C. (Marie) Mitchell of Florida, Mr. Troy Mitchell, Mr. Sammie Field, and Mr. Eddie B. Carter; his nieces and nephews, Mr. Ellis Porter, Jr., Mr. Kenneth Mitchell, Ms. Yvette Hamilton, Mrs. Brenda Cross, Mr. Tim Napper, Mr. Broderick Westbrook, Ms. Latoya Peacock, Ms. Nyeshia Mitchell, Ms. Santana Porter, Ms. Shan Mitchell, Mrs. Shalonda Gaines, Mr. Delveto Mitchell, Mr. Willie Westbrook, Ms. Tueisha Mitchell, and Ms. Fantasia Tellis; his in-laws, Mr. Rufus Tellis, Mr. John L.
