Mr. Leon Walker better known as "Tay" or "Mr. Freeze" died Wednesday, January 31, 2024 at the Crisp Regional Hospital in Cordele, Georgia.
The funeral service will be held Saturday, February 10, 2024 at 3:00 PM in the chapel of the J. W. Williams Funeral Home in Cordele, Georgia. The burial will follow at the Evergreen Cemetery in Pinehurst, Georgia.
Everyone entering the funeral home for visitations or services is required to wear a mask and to practice social distancing. A mask must be worn throughout the stay. You must supply your own mask.
Mr. Leon Walker was born September 23, 1957 in Cordele, Crisp County, Georgia. He was the son of the late Mr. Marcus Leon Perry and the late Mrs. Martha Bryant Walker.
Known to many as "Tay" or "Mr. Freeze," he received his education in the public schools of Crisp County. He attended Gillespie, A. S. Clark and graduated from Crisp County High School in 1975.
He believed in Jesus Christ and accepted him a his personal Savior. He was a member of the New Oak Grove Baptist Church.
Always a sharp dresser, he was a member of the Gillespie Modeling Class. Leon was a "jack of all trades" and over the years he had been employed by several businesses, to include, Perlis Truck Stop, Ray Fence Company, Crisp Regional Hospital, Folsom Construction, Best Western and the Lake Blackshear Resort.
He loved to spend time with family and was a great grill cooker. A die hard Miami Dolphins fan, he enjoyed playing cards and shooting pool.
On Wednesday, January 31, 2024, he transitioned from this life. Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his grandson, Mr. Montay Reid, Jr.; his brother, Mr. Roy Lee Walker; his grandparents, Mr. Fredrick Bryant and Mrs. Ethel Rebecca Adams-Bryant; and his aunts and uncle, Mr. Isaac Bryant, Mrs. Mary Perry Ford, and Ms. Eula Perry.
Memories of his life will be cherished by his loving and devoted children, Mr. Marlon Reid, Sr. (Tashiya Davis) and Mr. Montay Reid, Sr. (Kedra Allen) of Cordele, Georgia, Antonio (Sylvia) Sheppard of Kennesaw, Georgia, and Rebecca Walker of Cordele, Georgia; his grandchildren, Sonya Sheppard, Amaya Sheppard, and Renya Sheppard of Kennesaw, Georgia, Quan Thomas of Macon, Georgia, Marlon Reid, Jr. and Montasia Reid of Cordele, Georgia; his loving sister, Mrs. Betty (Willie) Smith of Lamont, Florida; his goddaughter, Ms. Christonya Jones of Cordele, Georgia; a dear friend, who was like a sister, Mrs. Ann Rouse of Cordele, Georgia; a close friend, Ms. Pernell Armstrong of Cordele, Georgia; his very devoted friends, Mrs. Alice Gaskin and Ms. Cassandra Reid of Cordele, Georgia; a host of cousins, other relatives and many sorrowing friends, Mr. Ben Morris of Cordele, Georgia.
