Mr. Larry "Big Man" Ford of 1114 Blackshear Road, Cordele, Georgia passed away Saturday, December 28, 2024 at his residence.
The funeral service will be held Saturday, January 4, 2025, at 2:00 PM in the chapel of the J. W. Williams Funeral Home in Cordele, Georgia. The burial will follow at the Westview Cemetery in Cordele, Georgia.
Everyone entering the funeral home for visitations or services must wear a mask and practice social distancing. A mask must be worn throughout the stay. You must supply your mask.
Larry Ford, affectionately known as "Big Man," life journey began on July 25, 1959, in Dooly County, Georgia. Born to Jacob Heath and Annie Bell Heath, Larry was a man who lived life with joy, humor, and a deep love for his family and friends.
Larry's early years were spent in the schools of Crisp County, Georgia, and later in Brooklyn, New York, where he attended the 86th Street School. It was in Brooklyn that Larry also began his lifelong connection with the church, a community that played an important role in his life.
Throughout his life, Larry was known for his love of fishing and the simple pleasure of riding around. He enjoyed nothing more than gathering with family for cookouts, sharing jokes, and engaging in heartfelt conversations. These moments of laughter and connection were the essence of who Larry was—a man who valued relationships above all else.
On Saturday, December 28, 2024, Larry peacefully transitioned from this life. He was preceded in death by his father, Jacob Heath, and his brother, J.W. Heath. Larry "Big Man" Ford's life was a testament to the power of love, laughter, and connection.
Larry's family was the cornerstone of his life. He is lovingly remembered by his children, Latoya (Cozie) Ray of Kathleen, Georgia, and Larry Risaun Ford of Cordele, Georgia; his grandchildren, Auyanna Valeia Ford of Cordele, Georgia, Ja'Maya Alexandria Lee, Latrevon Marcellus Ford, and Jacoby Risaun Ford all of Perry, Georgia, William Christopher Ray and Daisy Mae Layfield of Kathleen, Georgia, his loving and devoted mother, Annie Bell Heath of Brooklyn, New York; his sister, Pinkey (Benjamin) Williams of Fort Lauderdale, Florida; his aunt, Ommie Lee Ford of Atlanta, Georgia; his special friend and mother of his children, Lois Wedges of Cordele, Georgia; his cousins, Gayla (James) Bleach, Earnest Lee Neal, Janice Bush, Geraldine Ford, Mattie (Arthur) Pope, and Annie (Clarence) Johnson all of Cordele, Georgia; his godson, Ira Coley, Jr. of Cordele, Georgia; a special daughter, Chiara Chaniel-Evans of Cordele, Georgia; his close friends, Larry Appling, Jackie Williamson, Jack Reynolds, and Willie Blunt all of Cordele, Georgia and a host of other relatives and friends.
