Ms. Kimberly Shonta Grant-Sanon of 515 SE 9th Street, Fort Lauderdale, Florida died Thursday, January 27, 2022 at her residence.

The memorial service will be held Friday, March 4, 2022 at 12:00 Noon at the J. W. Williams Funeral Home Porte Cochere in Cordele, Georgia.  Everyone in attendance is asked to please wear a mask and to practice social distancing.

Mrs. Kimberly S. Grant-Sanon, the beautiful daughter of Mr. Curtis Grant and the late Mrs. Gloria J. Grant, was born in Cordele, Georgia on April 20, 1974, acquiring the age of 47.

Kimberly was educated in both Fulton and Crisp County public schools. She attended Georgia State University, obtaining a Bachelor of Science Degree. While attending Georgia State University, Kim joined the GSU Dance Troupe which warranted her a spot in the 1996 Summer Olympics Games Opening Ceremonies in Atlanta Georgia as a Red Tribe member forming the Red Rings of the Olympic flag.

In 2001, Kim moved to Fort Lauderdale, Florida where she earned The Bureau of Educator Certification (BEC) via the Florida Department of Education. From there she taught in the Broward County School System for 17 years touching many lives along the way.

When not teaching for the Broward County School System, Kim volunteered within her community teaching students and families how to identify and plant fruits and vegetables for healthy eating. Kim was nominated and awarded the 2022 Black History Month Award for her never ending volunteerism and dedication to those around her in the Lauderdale Lakes community.

Kim also enjoyed writing her own poetry and attending Open-Mic Poetry Nights to read her work. She loved making and selling   jewelry, sunrise meditations at the beach, hanging out with her three children, protecting animals, and connecting with Mother Earth as much as she could.

On Thursday, January 27, 2022, God whispered in Kim's ear while she slept and asked her to come home.

Left to cherish fond memories are: her three children; Najah Shaffiers of Florida, Pedro Sanon, Jr. and Pazel Sanon of California. Mrs. Shirley (Gonzela) Trimble of Savannah, Georgia whom Kim loved and called, Mama Shirley. Nineteen beloved siblings and their spouses, a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and many sorrowing students and friends, to include a special friend of many years, Mr. Emmanuel Rawlings of Florida.
