Mr. Johnny Lee Beaton, Sr. of 357 Hawthorne Trail, Macon, Georgia died Friday, October 20, 2023 at his residence.
The graveside funeral service will be held Saturday, October 28, 2023 at 11:00 AM at the Mount Zion Cemetery in Oakfield, Georgia.
Many know him as "Sonny" and a few as "Cool" but most of all we know him as Johnny Lee Beaton, Sr. A hardworking father, dedicated family member and devoted husband.
Johnny Lee Beaton, Sr. transitioned on the 20th of October, 2023 at the age of 80. Born on June 15, 1943 in Oakfield, Georgia and most recently he resided in Macon, Georgia.
Johnny Lee Beaton, Sr. love journey started at an early age and began with his high school sweetheart. The journey led to a marriage of 50 plus years to his loving wife, Melva H. Beaton. A love that will never be broken and will remain constant to the end. Unconditional love at its best.
He attended the J. W. Holly School. He went on to pursue a long term career of 40 plus years as a Foreman of Atlas Roofing Company.
Johnny Lee Beaton, Sr. was preceded in death by his father, Johnny Walker and his mother, Mammie Beaton McQueen. One brother, James T. Walker and two sisters, Lucille Tolbert and Mary Kendrick. He has one surviving sister, Ms. Ruby Walker of Tallahassee, Florida.
Additionally, he leaves behind, his immediate family that includes one daughter, Tammy S. Rhodes (Eddie) and three sons, Clancey Harris (Sabrina), Johnny Beaton, Jr. (India), Octavius Beaton (Lil Bit), and (Shelia Wilson). In addition, seven grandchildren, Tyson Rhodes, Jamir Andrews, Octavius Beaton, Jr., Kennedie Beaton, Kinsley Beaton, Ahmaud Beaton, Gracelyn Beaton, and many others that are not listed. A host of great grandchildren and most significantly, Royal Rhodes; including two brothers-in-law, preceding, Charles Fred Harris (Betty), Joey Harris (Pam) and his brothers-in-law, Charles Harris (Josephine) and Dennis Harris (Sheri); three sisters-in-law, Arzella Vance, Eleanor Wiley, and Brawner Harris.
Above all, Johnny Lee Beaton, Sr. was a great father, brother, uncle, friend and much more. As we say our final goodbyes, we promise to keep your memories alive. We love you with all our hearts and will never forget what you have instilled in us. Your kindness, generosity and old sayings will be remembered in many ways.
