Mr. Joe Nathan Dykes of 600 North Jackson Street, Rochelle, Georgia died Saturday, April 6, 2024 at Wellstar Medical College of Georgia Hospital in Augusta, Georgia.
The funeral service will be held Saturday, April 20, 2024 at 1:00 PM in the sanctuary of the Evergreen Baptist Church in Rochelle, Georgia. The burial will follow at the Piney Grove Cemetery in Rochelle, Georgia.
On March 14, 1944, the union of Mr. Arthur Lee Dykes and Mrs. Mary Bean Dykes was blessed with the birth of a son. Born in Abbeville, Wilcox County, Georgia, he was named Joe Nathan Dykes.
He was educated in the public schools of Wilcox County. Never a stranger to work, he was always willing to help along the way. For 40 years, he was a faithful and loyal employee of Doster Warehouse in Rochelle, Georgia.
Joe's love as a husband, father, grandfather and son, will forever be cherished. He loved his family and was always willing to show it in deeds and in actions.
On Saturday, April 6, 2024, he peacefully traded the cares of this life for an eternal life. His beloved wife, Mrs. Bertha Lee Hilson Dykes and his father, Arthur Lee, preceded him in death.
The journey of his earthly life will forever be remembered and cherished by his loving and caring family, his loving and devoted children, Mrs. Bridget Ohenewaa (Bright) and Mr. Carl Dykes (Aretha) of Fitzgerald, Georgia; his beloved grandchildren, Mr. Carlos Dykes, Mr. Carlton Standley, Mr. Carl Dykes, Mr. Imon Dykes, Ms. Eyana Dykes, Mr. Adrian Dykes, Ms. Chakueria Dykes, Mr. Quantavious Dykes, and Mr. Jamal Dykes; ten great grandchildren; his loving and devoted mother, Mrs. Mary Bean Dykes of Rochelle, Georgia; a loving sister, Ms. Peggie Harris of Rochelle, Georgia; his uncle, Mr. Eric Dykes of Kansas City, Missouri; a host of nieces and nephews, to include, Ms. Mary Harris of Kuwait, Ms. Subricca Hilson of Albany, Georgia, Mr. John Hilson of Albany, Georgia, Ms. Michelle Down of Albany, Georgia, Mr. Mike Gilbert of Atlanta, Georgia, and Mr. Lonnie Harris of Homerville, Georgia; a host of other relatives and many sorrowing friends.
