Mrs. Jessie Lucas Walker of 1702 Drayton Lane, Cordele, Georgia passed away Friday, November 29, 2024, at her residence.

The funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 7, 2024, at 10:00 AM in the sanctuary of the Hill Top Church of Christ in Cordele, Georgia.  The burial will follow at the Westview Cemetery in Cordele, Georgia.

On Friday, November 29, 2024. our beloved wife, mother,  grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, said goodbye to the cares of this life.  She now begins her new journey in the Kingdom of God.

Jessie Bell Lucas Walker's earthly journey began on June 28, 1943, in Cordele, Georgia when she was born to Mrs. Katie Riggins (Hosea) Appling and Mr. Albert Lucas.  As a child, she received her early years of education in Cordele, Georgia where she attended the public schools. She also attended the Holsey Cobb Institute.

Early in her life she accepted Christ as Lord and Savior and became a member of the Shady Grove Baptist Church.

An exceptional baker, she enjoyed cooking and sharing with her family and friends.  Spending time with her family at family gatherings also made her very happy.

Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her daughter, Ms. Yolanda Regina Lucas; her grandchildren, Mr. Javion S. Walker and Ms. Courtney C.  Williamson; her siblings, Mr. Hosea Appling, Mr. Jerome Appling, Ms. Mary Appling, Ms. Paula Coley, Ms. Catherine Lucas, and Ms. Arnetta Lucas.

Her life will forever be remembered by her loving and devoted husband, Mr. Willie Frank Walker of Cordele, Georgia; her loving and devoted children, Mr. Jeffery Lucas of Lithonia, Georgia, Ms. Lawana Davis of Cordele, Georgia, Mrs. Latressa (Rodney) Taylor of Byron, Georgia, Mr. Roderick Walker of Athens, Georgia and Mr. Latravius (Deon) Walker of Athens, Georgia; 16 grandchildren; a host of great grandchildren; her loving sisters, Mrs. Debra Armstrong of Cordele, Georgia, Mrs. Francine Sheffield of Albany, Georgia, Ms. Bonita Appling of Cordele, Georgia, Retired SK2 Rolita Appling, United States Navy of  Jacksonville, Florida, Ms. Dorothy Lucas of Cordele, Georgia, Ms. Priscilla Lucas, Ms. Valerie Lucas, and Ms. Mardis Lucas of Chicago, Illinois; her caring brothers, Mr. Larry Appling of Cordele, Georgia, Mr. Michael Appling of Albany, Georgia, and Mr. Quincy Lucas of Cordele, Georgia; her aunt and uncles, Mrs. Annie Jane Bunch of Tampa, Florida, Mr. Ronnie Riggins of Tampa, Florida, and Mr. Willie Riggins of Detroit, Michigan; her sisters-in-law, Mrs. Mary Appling of Cordele, Georgia and Ms. Ida Ruth Bryant of Cordele, Georgia;  her brother-in-law, Mr. Lawrence Stokes of Cordele, Georgia; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many sorrowing friends.
