Mr. Jessie Roe Ferguson of 703 Oak Avenue, Americus, Georgia died Thursday, August 18, 2022 at his residence.
The graveside funeral service will be held Saturday, August 27, 2022 at 11:00 AM at the Eastview Cemetery Pavilion in Americus, Georgia. Everyone in attendance is asked to please wear a mask and to practice social distancing.
Mr. Jessie Roe Ferguson was born July 1, 1944 in Americus, Sumter County, Georgia. He was born to the late Mr. Jessie Roe Ferguson and the late Mrs. Geraldine Knighton Ferguson.
He received his education from the Sumter County School System. He was employed by the International Mineral Corporation (IMC) for over 40 years. He worked as a Heavy Equipment Mechanic and a Certified Master Welder. Mr. Ferguson was also one of the first lawn care professional in Sumter County.
Mr. Ferguson loved sports, particularly Baseball, Football, Hockey and Golf. During his early years, he was an outstanding first baseman and hitter on the local baseball team. Outside of playing sports, Mr. Ferguson was an avid collector of coins, sport memorabilia and other items. Everyone who knew him enjoyed his sharp sense of humor. He will be greatly missed.
On Thursday, August 18, 2022, he transitioned from this life. Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by a son, Mr. Timothy Craig Ferguson; a grandson, Keyuntae Ferguson; his siblings, Ms. Shirley Ferguson, Ms. Betty Jean Lawson, Ms. Ruby Jean Knighton, and Mr. Homer Jesse Ferguson.
Many wonderful and cherished memories are left to his loving and devoted wife, Mrs. Ella Ruth Ferguson of Americus, Georgia; his loving and devoted son, Mr. Jessie (Cynthia) Ferguson of Americus, Georgia, Mr. Stanley (Cassaundra) Ferguson of Warner Robins, Georgia, and Mr. Jamie (Remeka) Ferguson of Grovetown, Georgia; 12 grandchildren; 31 great grandchildren; his loving sisters, Mrs. Irene Holland of Bridgeton, New Jersey, Ms. Geraldine Ferguson and Ms. Helen Tullis both of Americus, Georgia; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends, to include, Mr. Joe Callaway, Mr. John Wright, and Mr. Billy Furlow all of Americus, Georgia.
