Mr. Jesse Jerome Smith of 608 West 27th Avenue, Cordele, Georgia died Tuesday, April 30, 2024 at the Cordele Health and Rehabilitation Center in Cordele, Georgia.
The funeral service will be held Saturday, May 11, 2024 at 10:00 AM in the chapel of the J. W. Williams Funeral Home in Cordele, Georgia. The burial will follow at the Bethel Cemetery in Cordele, Georgia.
Everyone entering the funeral home for visitations or services is required to wear a mask and to practice social distancing. A mask must be worn throughout the stay. You must supply your own mask.
Jesse Jerome Smith was welcomed to this world on September 24, 1954. He was born in Cordele, Georgia to Jesse Armstrong, Jr., and Beatrice Smith Lee.
He was educated in the public school system of Crisp County.
Jerome accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior. He enjoyed attending local churches with his family.
For years he was employed by Gold Kist and Harris Press. When not playing basketball or shooting his rifle, he could be found fixing on cars.
On Tuesday, April 30, 2024, the cares of this life were eased from him. Preceding him in death are his parents, his grandparents, Ozie & Mollie Thomas Smith, and William L. Holmes, whom he regarded as his own child.
Many wonderful memories will be remembered and cherished by his loving family: his wife, Bobbie H. Smith of Cordele, Georgia; his children, Lakatasha Brown, Kelcy Smith, and Shameka Tolbert of Cordele, Georgia, Jarron Smith of Tifton, Georgia, Shalonda (Savastian) Blackburn of Copperas Cove, Texas, Derrieh Smith, Carolyn Smith, and Donte Smith, Sr. of Cordele, Georgia; 27 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren; his sister, Carol S. Johnson of Cordele, Georgia; his brother, James Quincy Smith of Cordele, Georgia; his aunts and uncles, Ruby Coleman, Catherine Reese, and Alice (Sammie) Hill of Cordele, Georgia, Barbara Milligan of Florida, Sammie Parker of Atlanta, Georgia, Ozie (Maudell) Smith, Jr. of Miami, Florida, Roosevelt Smith of Cordele, Georgia and Willie James Parker of Florida; his nephews, Larosstin Johnson and Marquis (Bernetta) Johnson of Atlanta, Georgia; four sisters-in-law, five brothers-in-law; a host of cousins, other relatives and many sorrowing friends, to include, Paul (Ruthie) Johnson of Cordele, Georgia.
