Mr. Jeffery Bernard Mathis of 1085 Pleasant Valley Road, Vienna, Georgia died Sunday, April 7, 2024 of injuries sustained in automobile accident.

The funeral service will be held Saturday, April 20, 2024 at 3:00 PM at the Dooly County Middle School Gymnasium in Pinehurst, Georgia.  The burial will follow at the Forest Chapel Church Cemetery in Pinehurst, Georgia.

On Sunday, April 7, 2024 God sent an angel on assignment to issue Mr. Jeffery Bernard Mathis his wings. Jeffery was a husband, devoted father, grandfather, loving son and affectionate brother.  Welcomed to this world on Tuesday, July 4, 1978, he was born to Lonnie Dean Mathis and Mercie Dean Mathis.

Born in Dooly County, Georgia, he was a 1996 graduate of Dooly County High School where he played football.  He continued his  education and graduated from Valdosta Technical College.

As a believer in Jesus Christ, Jeffery was a faithful member of Forest Chapel Baptist Church.

He never met a stranger. A born mechanic, he proved himself to be one of the best in Dooly County.  With a heart full of love, laughter and jokes, he was known for giving out nicknames.  Watching True Crime Shows, the Atlanta Falcons, the Miami Hurricanes, and sports in general was also among his favorite pastimes.

Jeffery also possessed a compassionate and nurturing spirit, he loved his family.  He took care of his aunt by sweeping her rocks.  While traveling he enjoyed shopping at Citi Trends and he just couldn't pass up an opportunity to shop at Ross.

Jeffery valued spending time with his family and friends.  Most important to him were the moments spent with his children, whom he cherished and loved dearly.

He will forever be remembered by his wife, Chianti Mathis of East Point, Georgia; his children, Zyeisha Carter of Atlanta, Georgia, Reagan Mathis of Vienna, Georgia, Ryan Banks and Latavish (Destini) Mathis of Marietta, Georgia, Lance Corporal Jef'veon Anderson of San Diego, California and Airman First Class Markayl Mathis of Tampa, Florida; his grandson, Bentley Mathis; his parents, Lonnie Dean & Mercie Dean Mathis of Vienna, Georgia; his sisters, Marisa Mathis of Austell, Georgia, Kaylar (Ronnie) Starling of Bethlehem, Georgia, Sidorva Johnson and Raymonia Mathis of Byron, Georgia;  his aunts, Rozina (John) Lewis and Deborah Johnson of Miami, Florida, Geraldine (Robert) Jones, Sarah Blackshear, Myrtice (Earl, Sr.) Clark, Felita (Minister Eric) Bryant, and Annie Merritt of Vienna, Georgia, Lillie Bowens, Annie (Ron) Wheeler, Edna (Jeffery) Spivey of Unadilla, Georgia, Elois Bernard of South Carolina, Nellie Howe of Decatur, Georgia, Patricia (Reverend Coley) Clark of Ellaville, Georgia, and Peggy Dykes of Atlanta, Georgia; his uncles, Herbert (Frankie) Henderson of Atlanta, Georgia, Willie B. (Cynthia) Mathis of Byromville, Georgia, Dr. Ronnie (Betty) Mathis of Valdosta, Georgia, Henry (Mary Frances) Mathis and John (Barbara) Collier of  Vienna, Georgia; his parents-in-law, Constance Banks and James Cousin of Amelia, Virginia; his brother-in-law, Jamal (Amber) Banks of Maryland; his nieces and nephews, Eric Johnson, Jr., Sidney Johnson, Elijah Banks, Caleb Starling, Riley Starling and Alexa Banks; his  cousins whom he regarded as siblings, Alisha Cromer of Perry, Georgia and Henry Mathis, Jr. of Vienna, Georgia;  his special cousins, Katrice Taylor of Pinehurst, Georgia, Trenton Clark and Timdrickus Whitehead of Vienna, Georgia; a host of other relatives and a multitude of friends, to include a special friend, Waymond McIntee, Jr. of North Carolina.
