Mrs. Jannie Lee Dempsey Miller of 407 East 25th Avenue, Cordele, Georgia, died Sunday, March 22, 2026, at Oaks at Tucker in Tucker, Georgia.

The funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 28, 2026, at 10:00 AM in the sanctuary of the New Oak Grove Baptist Church in Cordele, Georgia.  The burial will follow at the Bethel Cemetery in Cordele, Georgia.

Mrs. Jannie Lee Dempsey Miller was born on November 29, 1931, in Headland, Alabama, to Lucious and Edna Lynn Dempsey. Jannie was a beloved daughter and sibling in the Dempsey family, growing up alongside her brothers and sisters in a close-knit household.

Jannie received her early education from Bethlehem Training School in Bethlehem, Alabama. Her journey through life led her to New Jersey, where she lived for 30 years before later moving to Miami, Florida. In Miami, she worked at Racal-Datacom Computer Company in  Sunrise, Florida, where she eventually retired in 1993.

While residing in Miami, Jannie was an active member of the First Baptist Church. Her faith was a cornerstone of her life, and she continued her dedication to her faith after moving to Cordele, Georgia, in 2006. At New Oak Grove Baptist Church, she served diligently in the  Women's Ministry and Mission Ministry, always contributing her time and energy to help in any way she could.

Jannie was known for her love of fishing, traveling, and spending cherished moments with her grandchildren. Her warmth and joy in these activities brought happiness to both her and her family.

Jannie Lee Dempsey Miller's life was a testament to the love and dedication she had for her family, friends, and community. Her memory will continue to live on in the hearts of all those she touched.

She passed away on Sunday, March 22, 2026, leaving     behind a legacy of love and cherished memories. She was preceded in death by her parents, her son Michael   Dempsey, and her siblings: Janie Lee, Lucious, Joseph, Johnny, Wayward, and James Dempsey.

She leaves precious memories to her daughter, Claudia May of Columbia, South Carolina; her grandchildren, Debra Scottbay and Jonathan Scottbay of Newark, New Jersey, and Willie P.  May, II (Mary Jane) of Columbia, South Carolina; her great-grandson, Raphael May of      Columbia, South Carolina; her sisters, Margaret Pearson of New Brunswick, New Jersey, and Carol Nadine     Dempsey of Cordele, Georgia; her brothers, Harry   Dempsey (Sheila) of Chester, Pennsylvania, and Alfred Dempsey (Debra) of Jeffersonville, Georgia; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and many sorrowing friends.
