United States Army Veteran, Mr. James Cooks, Jr. of 209 West 24th Avenue, Cordele, Georgia died Monday, June 6, 2022 at his residence.

The graveside funeral service, with military honors, will be held Monday, June 13, 2022 at 10:00 AM at the Bethel Cemetery in Cordele, Georgia.  Everyone in attendance is asked to please wear a mask and to practice social distance.

Mr. James Cooks, Jr. was born December 26, 1957 in Cordele, Crisp County, Georgia.  He was born to Mr. David Lee Johnson, Sr. and Mrs. Trudie Mae Cooks Johnson.

He was affectionately known to his family and friends as "Punnie" or "Cookie".  He was enrolled in the Crisp  County Public School System and was a 1975 graduate of Crisp County High School.

He enlisted in the United States Army in 1977.  He served his country with honor and distinction.  Upon the completion of his enlistment, he was given an Honorable discharge.

He accepted the Lord, Jesus Christ and united with Ark of God Ministries in Cordele, Georgia.

"Punnie" will be remembered as the world's greatest oldest brother and protector.  Always simply being himself made him a loving father, best uncle, brother, and friend.

He was also a devoted Cowboys fan.  Win, lose, or draw, he was always pulling for his Cowboys.

On Monday, June 6, 2022 he peacefully transitioned from this life.  He is preceded in death by his parents.

Cherishing his life, he leaves, loving and devoted children, Ms. Conswella Cooks of Atlanta, Georgia, Ms. Valencia Cooks of Tifton, Georgia, Mr. Jamie (Tiffany) Cooks and Mr. Robert (Nikki) Clark both of Cordele, Georgia; 16 grandchildren; his loving sisters, Ms. Cynthia (Sharier) Johnson and Mrs. Latrell (Ronnie) Morris both of Cordele, Georgia; his caring brothers, Elder Alonza (Diane) Johnson and Pastor David (Cynthia) Johnson, Jr. both of Cordele, Georgia; his aunts and uncle, Deacon Bobby Barner, Mrs. Ruby Singleton, and Mrs. Annie Mae Felton all of Cordele, Georgia; his nieces and nephews; many cousins, other relatives and many sorrowing friends.
