Ms. Jakesa Shantrell Josey of Americus, Georgia died Monday, April 15, 2024 in Columbus, Georgia.

The graveside funeral service will be held Saturday, April 27, 2024 at 2:00 PM at the Pleasant Grove Church Cemetery in Cobb, Georgia.

A beautiful ray of love was gifted to our lives on October 29, 1993 when Jakesa Shantrell Josey was born in Sumter County, Georgia.  She was born to Sammie Bullard and Michelle Josey.

Jakesa was educated in the public schools of Sumter County.  At an early age she was baptized at the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Cobb, Georgia.  She remained a faithful member throughout her adolescence.

Jakesa was a beautiful soul that vowed to live life on her own terms.  As a free spirit, she learned her way through life as she saw fit.  During her journey she encountered many friends and loved ones along the way.  Before her untimely death, Jakesa embraced love from her family as often as she could. Jakesa is preceded in death by her paternal and maternal grandmothers, Mrs. Nona Mae Bullard, who raised her and Ms. Annie Kate Josey.

Cherishing her life and love, she leaves her loving father, Sammie Bullard of Americus, Georgia; her loving mother, Michelle Josey of Americus, Georgia; her sisters, Cecile Sales  and Donaisha Walker of Americus, Georgia; her brothers, Antonio Wilburn of Atlanta, Georgia and Roderick Johnson of Americus, Georgia; her grandfather, James Jessie of Americus, Georgia;  a devoted and loving aunt, Norma (Ronnie) Mays of Americus, Georgia; her aunts and uncles, Audrey (John) Hayes, Doris Josey and Viola Bridges of  Americus, Georgia, Willie Josey of Belle Glade, Florida, Addie P. Josey of South Carolina, Michael (Shonna) Josey of Albany, Georgia, Jason (Kesha) Josey of Albany, Georgia; her great aunt, Margie Jackson of Americus, Georgia.

Jakesa was an aunt to over 20 nieces and nephews, to include a devoted few, Kameron, Erin, Tyler, Taylor, Khylen, Paisley, Zakala, Depaydro, Dailen, Kearstin,  Alanaa, Taylor, D'Niyah, Aubri, Marley, Courtney, Ashton, Debastian, Khylen, and Chase all of Americus, Georgia; a host of adoring and loving cousins, some raised as sisters and brothers, to include, Precious and Eddie and more; some of her favorite cousins include, Quatesha, Shabreka, Adayshia, Shantray and many more.  Jakesa had countless family and friends who helped her along the way, to include special friends, Katrina Kimbrough and Audrey Thomas.
