Mrs. Jackie Lango McClure of New York, New York died Monday, July 18, 2022 at the Mount Sinai Hospital in New York, New York.

The graveside funeral service will be held Saturday, July 30, 2022 at 3:30 PM at the Vienna City Cemetery in Vienna, Georgia.  Everyone in attendance is asked to please wear a mask and to practice social distancing.

Jackie M Lango McClure entered this world on Friday, November 7, 1952, to the late Jack Tex and Gussie Jordan Lango.  Born in Dooly County, Vienna, Ga., she was the youngest of ten children.  Our beloved Jackie was preceded in death by five brothers: Frank Lester Sr., Roy, Randall "Dick", Connie, and Cecil Lango, and two sisters:  Carrie Barton, and Daisy Lango Howell, and her long-time companion and best friend, Daniel Brown.

To God be the glory for all the great things He has done for and in the life of our beloved Jackie. On Monday, July 18, 2022, while a patient at Mount Sinai hospital in New York, she answered her  Master's call.

Young Adulthood

Jackie was a 1969 graduate of Vienna High and Industrial School. There, she was selected among many to participate in the Upward Bound program at Fort Valley State College in 1967. This quest gave her a yearning for higher learning, and immediately following graduation, she became a student at FVSC and a member of the graduating class of 1973, earning a Bachelor's degree in Social Work. Immediately following graduation, she relocated to New York where she later earned a Master's at Columbia University in 1979.

Career Path

Jackie worked for many years as director of a senior citizen center in New York as well as a drug abuse center.  Later in life she developed a passion of caring for the elderly and would walk for blocks to care for family  members and friends that needed her.

Service to God and Mankind

Jackie was a dedicated servant to her faith.  She was introduced to Christ at Athen Hill Baptist Church, and later united with Bethel  Baptist Church in Vienna, Ga.  Upon relocation to New York, she joined and remained a faithful member of Canaan  Baptist Church of Christ until her demise.

Final Thoughts

Those who remain behind to cherish her memory are her loving  sisters: Geraldine Lango of New York, and Thelma L. Smith of Cordele, Ga.; two sisters-in-law: Lessie Lango and Francis Lester of Dooly Co; one brother-in-law: Frank Howell Jr. of  Warner Robins, Ga.; long-time friends/sisters: Chryel Lundy of Macon, Ga. and Ruby Manning of North Carolina; eight nieces, 14 nephews; special cousin: Vera McKenzie of Vienna, Georgia; a devoted friend and Eastern Star sister, Doris Austin of Maryland; a host of many great nieces, great nephews, other relatives, and many soring friends.
