Mr. Jack James Lane, Jr. of 162 Mitchell Street, Desoto, Georgia passed away Thursday, November 21, 2024,  at the Phoebe Sumter Medical Center in Americus, Georgia.

The funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 30, 2024, at 2:00 PM in the sanctuary of the Shipp Baptist Church in Americus, Georgia.  The burial will follow at the Eastview Cemetery in Americus, Georgia.

Jack James Lane, Jr. was born January 18, 1947 in Sumter County, Georgia to the late Jack Lane, Sr. and Jerdine Merritt Lane.  He was the grandson of the late Mr. Garfield (Nellie) Lane and the late Mrs. Inez (Stanford) Merritt.

He received his education through the Sumter County School System and continued his studies after high school and the Fort Valley State College.  Mr. Jack's employment career was vast, but he is most remembered as a supervisor at Davidson Rubber Company in Americus, Georgia.  He was a valued and loyal employee up until his retirement.  He was a member of Shipp  Chapel Baptist Church in Americus, Georgia.

Jack was married to Mrs. Lottie Young Lane of DeSoto, Georgia and their union was blessed with four children.  The late Hadari Lane, preceded him in death.  His surviving children are Kerry (Jackie) Lane of San Diego, California, Michelle (Wallace) Perry of Leslie, Georgia, and Nedra Lane of DeSoto, Georgia; his grandchildren, Monica Sayou, Helen Lane, Myia Lane and Khloe Lane of San Diego, California, and Adaria Lane of Leslie, Georgia; two brothers, CDR Franky (Shirlene) Lane of McDonough, Georgia and Bobby Lane of Americus, Georgia; one sister, Diane Watkins of Americus, Georgia; three brothers-in-law, Willie James Young of Americus, Georgia, Alvin (Linda Young of Americus, Georgia, and Charlie Willie (Geneva) Young of Hartsford, Connecticut; five sisters-in-law, Margaret Young of Byron, Georgia, Alice (Ben) Hegas of Warner Robins, Georgia, Jeanette Sparks of Smithville, Georgia, Katherine McGray of Americus, Georgia, and Shawn Baker of South Carolina; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many sorrowing friends.
