Mr. Isaac Brisbane, Sr. of 20461 GA Hwy 27, Vienna, Georgia died Tuesday,  May 28, 2024 at the Dorminy Medical Center in Fitzgerald, Georgia.

The Mass will be offered on Saturday, June 8, 2024 at 1:00 PM in the sanctuary of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Warner Robins, Georgia.  The burial will follow at the Oak Grove Cemetery in Savannah, Georgia.

The body will lie in state at the church from 12:00 PM until the hour of the service.

On November 3, 1950, a wonderful baby was born to Nancy Garrett and Julian Brisbane. This wonderful baby was raised by Julia Wilson Gibbs in Dataw, South Carolina from the age of 3 to the age of 12. From the age of 12 he was then raised by Theresa and Aiken Habersham in     Inkster, Michigan.

Isaac attended Inkster High School and graduated in 1969. He attended Western Michigan University briefly where he would meet and marry his wife, Paula R. Gordon on August 19, 1972. He then went on to    attend Wayne State University and graduated in 1978 with his Bachelor's degree in Political Science/Communication and his Masters in Urban Planning in 1990. He decided to change his path and in 1992 graduated with a Certification in Education from the University of Detroit-Mercy, and Master's degree as an Ed. Specialist from Wayne State University in 1997.

Throughout the years he was blessed to explore different avenues of life until he was able to answer his calling in education. He retired as an Assistant Principal for Detroit Public School Community District in 2010. Prior to him working in education he worked with the Michigan State Police, Supervisor for Massey Ferguson, and an Administrative Assistant to the City Manager for Inkster, Michigan.

Isaac had many honors and achievements throughout his life as an educator including receiving the Tenth Annual Golden Apple Teacher Recognition Award from 1996-1997, and was commended for his outstanding contributions to education. He also received the RESA Award from Wayne County, for Teacher of the year from 1977-1978, and the Certificate of Special Tribute from State of Michigan Governor's office from 1977-1978.

One of Isaac's biggest accomplishments was becoming a part of Big Brother/Big Sister which he did for twenty-six years. He was a member of the Red Cross as First Aid/CPR instructor for eighteen years and also had been a member of the Knights of Columbus for many years.  He was also a Lector at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Isaac loved to swim, bowl, horseback ride, scuba dive, roller skate and fish but his passion was writing.

If there was nothing else to know about Isaac was that he was a family man and that family was the core of his being.  He stood tall,  a man with a voice that would echo through the room one that commanded attention. He was known for his smile and his laugh. He loved to dance to his oldies with his wife and grandchildren. He was our protector,  provider and his love was unconditional.

Isaac leaves behind his wife Paula; his children – Julia Paul, Delissa, and Rachael; his grandchildren: Xavier, Olivia, Jalen, Aniya, Aliya,  Joseph, Akara, Zayden and Cayden, two great grandchildren, Legend and Anaish; sisters Vivian Stoney, MaryAnn (Paul) Smalls, Lena (Leroy) Coleman and brother Sammy Brisbane; mother-in-law, Barbara Gordon; sisters-in-law, Diane Gordon and Paula Brisbane; brother-in-law, Raymond, a host of nieces and nephews, to include, Tiffany Gordon, other relatives and friends.

Isaac is preceded in death by his son, Isaac Jr., 5 sisters and 4 brothers.
