Mrs. Ira Berlinda Harris Brown of 1208 South 15th Street, Cordele, Georgia, died Tuesday, April 29, 2025, at her residence.
The funeral service will be held on Saturday, May 3, 2025, at 3:00 PM in the chapel of J. W. Williams Funeral Home in Cordele, Georgia. The burial will follow at the Bethel Cemetery in Cordele, Georgia.
Everyone entering the funeral home for visitations or services must wear a mask and practice social distancing. A mask must be worn throughout the stay. You must supply your mask.
Ira Berlinda Harris Brown was born on August 31, 1952, in Worth County, Georgia, to parents Zelman Lee Harris and Johnnie Mae Walker Ward. She grew up in a nurturing family environment and pursued her education in the public schools of Crisp County, Georgia.
From a young age, Bee was deeply rooted in her faith. She joined the Mount Olive Baptist Church in Warwick, Georgia, as a child. Her spiritual journey later led her to become one of Jehovah's Witnesses, where she actively participated in meetings and embraced the teachings and community of her faith.
Ira dedicated many years of her professional life to the Saybrook Sewing Factory, where she developed lasting friendships and honed her skills. Later, she joined the team at Wal-Mart, where she was known for her warm demeanor and strong work ethic.
Her personal life was filled with love and companionship. Ira was married to Tommy Lee Brown, Sr., with whom she shared a loving marriage until his passing on October 6, 2020. Their union was a testament to enduring love and partnership.
Ira Berlinda Harris Brown transitioned peacefully on Tuesday, April 29, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of love, faith, and cherished memories. In addition to her husband and parents, she is preceded in death by her sister, Catherine Pittman-Harris, and her brother, Reginald Lester.
Ira's life was blessed with the joy of family. She will be lovingly remembered by her beloved and caring sons, Nekita Harris, Freddie B. McCloud, Jr., and Fredrick McCloud all of Cordele, Georgia; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; her brothers: Lonnie Walker (Barbara), Johnnie Lester, and Reverend Nekitoe Lester (Eddie Mae) all of Cordele, Georgia, Archie Lester (Alice) of Americus, Georgia, and David Lester (Renee) of El Paso, Texas; her aunt, Ruby Walker of Tallahassee, Florida; a devoted niece, Adrian Smith of Vienna, Georgia, four sisters-in-law; two brothers-in-law; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and many cherished friends, including Ann Ross, Evelyn Simmons, Clara Redding, Ellen Woodson, Betty Ann Whitehead, The Mumphery Family, Mrs. Wright, Margaret Patrick and Donna Gaston.
