Mr. Henry Lee Sims, Jr. of 105 Ross Street, Cordele, Georgia died Saturday, February 19, 2022 at the Piedmont Fayetteville Hospital in Fayetteville, Georgia.

The graveside funeral service will be held Saturday,  February 26, 2022 at 2:00 PM at the Bethel Cemetery in Cordele, Georgia.  Everyone in attendance is asked to please wear a mask and to practice social distancing.

Henry Lee Sims, Sr. and Palace M. Sims were blessed with the birth of a son on June  30, 1974.  Lovingly named after his father, Henry Lee Sims, Jr., he was affectionately known to his family and friends by his nickname, "Superman."

A graduate of Crisp County High School in Cordele, Georgia, he did further studying at the Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College in Tifton, Georgia for two years.  He also attended Georgia Southwestern State University in Americus, Georgia.

As a child he united with the Greater Morris Tabernacle Baptist Church in Cordele, Georgia.

"Superman" loved sports.  A member of "Raider Nation," he supported the Raiders whether they were winning or losing.  He was also an avid Lakers and Braves fan.  He had a special gift of being able to tell stories that kept you captivated until the very end.  He was  definitely a "Storyteller Extraordinaire. '

On Saturday, February 19, 2022, he transitioned from this life to life eternal.  His parents and his grandparents, Monroe Mapp, Louis, Sr. & Artie Oliver, and Prospect & Valene Rawls precede him in death.  He is also preceded in death by his aunts and uncles, Corinthian Oliver, Sr. & Dorothy Oliver, Charles Oliver and Dorothy Oliver.

He is survived by his loving and caring family, his daughter, Gabrielle Daniels of Cordele, Georgia; his sisters, Latasha Sims Kelley (Joseph) of Hampton, Georgia and Yolanda Sims of Cordele, Georgia; his brothers, Sergio Sims (Cassandra) of Cordele, Georgia and De'Angelo Sims of Warner Robins, Georgia;  his aunts and uncles, Willie & Veronica Oliver, Gregory & Marquetta Oliver, Arnett & Lois Rawls, and Debra Williams & Lougene Williams all of Cordele, Georgia, Anthony & Judy Oliver of Warner Robins, Georgia, Tommie Rawls of Ohio, Personia Rawls Hunter and Brian Hunter of Jacksonville, Florida, Barbara Oliver, Marie Sherie Oliver, Patricia Clennon, and Robert Oliver all of Belle Glade, Florida;  a host of  other relatives and many sorrowing friends:  Nashuada Payne (special sister) of Hampton, Georgia, Willie Blount (cousin) of Cordele, Georgia, Kasey "Bubba" Crumley (brother) of Albany,  Georgia, Rod Walker (brother) of Turner County, Georgia, Wallace Swint (brother) of Cordele, Georgia, Samondre Johnson (friend) of Hampton, Georgia, Quay & Zee (friends) of Hampton,  Georgia, Reggie Terrell (brother) of Ashburn, Georgia, Class of '93 of Cordele, Georgia, Lachandra Yvette, Tamika Hayes, Decarla Johnson (special sister), Kenya Whitehead (cousin), Sonya Dixon (special friend), Shaundria Bryant (special friend), Bresha (special sister) and the ABAC family.
