United States Army Veteran, Mr. Harry T. Gaines of 710 East 13th Avenue, Cordele, Georgia died Sunday, March 20, 2022 at the Crisp Regional Hospital in Cordele, Georgia.
The graveside funeral service, with military honors, will be Saturday, March 26, 2022 at 10:00 AM at the Bethel Cemetery in Cordele, Georgia. Everyone in attendance is asked to please wear a mask and to practice social distancing.
Mr. Harry T. Gaines was born October 11, 1948 in Cordele, Crisp County, Georgia. He was born to the loving parentage of the late Mr. Samuel D. Gaines, Sr. and the late Mrs. Willie Mae Stephens Gaines.
Harry was educated in the public school system of Crisp County. After his graduation from A. S. Clark High School, he enlisted in the United States Army. Through his military service he was given an opportunity to see many parts of the world. He received numerous medals and awards during his time of service. Upon the completion of his service he was given an Honorable discharge.
As a child, he, along with the rest of the Gaines family worshiped at the Mount Zion First African Baptist Church.
On Sunday, March 20, 2022, Harry peacefully transitioned from this life. He leaves many wonderful memories to his loving and devoted children, Mr. Mojica Pittman of Cordele, Georgia, Mr. Landon Pittman of Iowa, and Ms. Melissa Gaines of Cordele, Georgia; 13 grandchildren; four great grandchildren; a loving sister, Mrs. Dorothy Williams of Cordele, Georgia; a beloved brother, Mr. James Gaines of Cordele, Georgia; his nieces and nephews, Mr. Perry Gaines of Hyannis, Massachusetts, Ms. Dianne Blackburn and Ms. Vieta Angela Gaines both of Belle Glade, Florida, Ms. Dietra Gaines of Leesburg, Georgia, and Mr. Timothy Butts of Cordele, Georgia; his cousins, Mr. Lawrence Gaines, Mr. Alvin Gaines, and Mr. Derrick Jones all of West Palm Beach, Florida, and Mr. John Manning of Cordele, Georgia; a host of other relatives and many sorrowing friends.
