Obituary

Mr. Gregory Lee Williams, Sr. of 470 Grey Moss Road, Desoto, Georgia died Monday, January 31, 2022 at the Willson Hospice House in Albany, Georgia.

The graveside funeral service will be held Thursday, February 3, 2022 at 11:00 AM the Saddler Cemetery in Lee County, Georgia.  Everyone in attendance is asked to please wear a mask and to practice social distancing.

On September 4, 1959, the union of the Mr. Willie Oscar Williams and Mrs. Lucy Berryhill Williams was blessed with the birth of a son.  They named him, Gregory Lee.  Affectionately known to his family and friends as "Nent," he was born in Lee  County, Georgia.

He was educated in the public schools of Lee County.  He was a proud Lee County High School Class of '77 graduate.

Early in life he accepted Jesus Christ and united with Antioch Baptist Church.  For many years he served faithfully as an Usher and he was also the custodian for the church.  He was always committed to the service of the Lord.

For many years he was employed by Davidson Textron, Collins & Aikman of (Proctor & Gamble).  Additionally he operated his own lawn care business until his health began to fail.

"Nent" enjoyed landscaping, softball, playing basketball and watching both basketball and football.  He is favorite team was the Pittsburg Steelers.  When not watching basketball, he enjoyed cooking on the grill and welding. A lot of people referred to him as the "Boss Man" and "Shug." He shared a special love for raising hogs and goats with his granddaddy, who called him, "Jim Dandy."

On Monday morning, January 31, 2022, he peacefully transitioned from life to life eternal at the Willson Hospice House in Albany, Georgia.  His parents and his wife, Mrs. Velma James Williams, each preceded him in death.

He leaves cherished memories to his loving and devoted children, Mrs. Katrina (Terrance) Mathis of Leesburg, Georgia and Mr. Gregory Williams, Jr. of Atlanta, Georgia; his treasured grandsons, Trenton and Tristen Mathis of Leesburg, Georgia; his loving sisters, Mrs. Lois (Willie James) Daniels and Mrs. Mercy (Albert) Glover of Albany, Georgia; his caring brothers, Deacon Lawrence (Gwendolyn) Williams of Leslie, Georgia, Mr. Donnell (Dannie) Laramore of Atlanta, Georgia, Mr. Earl Guest and Mr. Greg Guest both of Albany, Georgia; his beloved aunts and uncles, Ms. Caldonia Johnson of Albany, Georgia, Mrs. Dorothy (Buford) Daniels of Miami, Florida, Mr. O.  C. Williams and Mr. John (Nancy) Berryhill both of Desoto, Georgia, Mr. Charles (Martha) Berryhill and Mr. Gentle Hamilton both of Miami, Florida, and Mr. James Berryhill of St. Mary's,  Georgia; a host of nieces and nephews; many cousins, other relatives and many sorrowing friends.
