Mrs. Grace Mathis Johnson of 207 Brookdale Drive, Americus, Georgia died Monday, August 1, 2022 at the Phoebe-Sumter Medical Center in Americus, Georgia.
The funeral service will be held Tuesday, August 9, 2022 at 11:00 AM in the sanctuary of Whole Truth International Ministries in Americus, Georgia. The burial will follow at the Eastview Cemetery in Americus, Georgia. Everyone in attendance is asked to please wear a mask and to practice social distancing.
On June 7, 1957, the union of Frank and Geneva Ross Mathis welcomed a beautiful baby girl. Born in Sumter County, Georgia, she was lovingly given the name, "Grace."
Grace was educated in the Americus School System where she was a graduate of Staley High School. She confessed hope in Christ and united with the Bethlehem Baptist Church.
For many years she was employed by Sumter Regional Hospital in Americus, Georgia.
On Monday, August 1, 2022 her earthly life came to a peaceful end at the Phoebe Sumter Medical Center in Americus, Georgia. Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Eddie C. Johnson and her siblings, Ozzie Dean Jackson, Clyde Mathis, and Louise Harvey.
Special memories of her life will forever remembered by her loving and devoted children, Tony Johnson of Americus, Georgia, Anthony Johnson of Auburn, Alabama, and Quanesha Draines of Americus, Georgia; her loving grandchildren, Asia Johnson, Ashton Robinson, and Gracelyn Dice; a loving sister, Bernice Mann of Americus, Georgia; her caring brothers, Charles Mathis, Noble Mathis, Carl Mathis, Willie Mathis, Henry C. Mathis, and Isiah Mathis all of Americus, Georgia; her nieces and nephews, Cathy Heath, Annie R. Mathis, Derrick Mann, Kenneth Mann, Cedric Mathis, and Clyde Mathis all of Americus, Georgia, Edwena Jackson, Michael Jackson, and Dexter Jackson all of Washington, DC, Emmanuel Mann of Plains, Georgia, Joey Harvey of Leesburg, Georgia, Ronnie Harvey of Virginia, David Harvey and Nathaniel Harvey of Moultrie, Georgia, and Cameisha Trice of Albany, Georgia; a host of other relatives and many sorrowing friends, to include her devoted friends, Tracy Munns and Ella Mae Wilkerson of Americus, Georgia.
