Mrs. Gloria Jean Lawson of 627 South Gordon Street, Ashburn, Georgia passed away Thursday, January 16, 2025, at the Tift Regional Medical Center in Tifton, Georgia.
The funeral service will be held Saturday, January 25, 2025, at 3:30 PM in the sanctuary of the New Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church in Coverdale, Georgia. The burial will follow in the churchyard cemetery.
Gloria Jean Lawson was born on August 17, 1953, in Turner County, Georgia, to loving parents Tommy Lawson and Cleola Lawson. She grew up in a nurturing household and went on to graduate in 1971 from Eureka High School in Ashburn, Georgia.
Gloria was a devoted follower of the Lord. She accepted Him as the head of her life and was a faithful member of the New Mount Pleasant Baptist Church in Coverdale, Georgia, where she worshipped diligently until her passing.
Known for her outspoken nature and love for her family, Gloria delighted in cooking and cherished the moments spent with her husband, children, and grandchildren. Her warm presence and open heart made her a beloved figure in her community.
On Thursday, January 16, 2025, Gloria transitioned from this life to an everlasting rest with the Lord. Her parents and seven siblings precede her in death.
She leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories with her devoted family: her husband: John W. Lawson, Jr. of Ashburn, Georgia; her children: Rico (Tamalynn) Lawson of Ashburn, Georgia, Sherard Hillmon of Africa, Gloria (Derrick) Martin of Ashburn, Georgia, Heather Davis of Ashburn, Georgia, Martisa (Mark) Bell of Tifton, Georgia, and Cassandra Blakely of Ashburn, Georgia; her grandchildren: Kendall Lawson, Derrion Martin, Gracelynn Martin, and Kensley Lawson of Ashburn, Georgia, Laniya Hillmon of Detroit, Michigan, Kerrick Smith and Keronne Smith of Jacksonville, Florida, Kelton McCrae of Ashburn, Georgia, Devonte Curtis of Orlando, Florida, Jonia Dawson and Marquavion Bell of Tifton, Georgia, Sharaneika Taylor of Atlanta, Georgia, and Lawyer Taylor of Ashburn, Georgia; her great grandchildren, Amiri Brown and Kylie Smith of Ashburn, Georgia; her sisters, Inez Thomas of Tifton, Georgia, Tommie King, Wanda Lawson, and Margaret Lawson of Ashburn, Georgia; her brother, Nathanial (Devaine) Lawson of Ashburn, Georgia; five sisters-in-law, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends, to include, Earnestine Hendrix of Titusville, Florida, Patricia Holmes of Valdosta, Georgia, and Pearl Teague of Ashburn, Georgia.
