Obituary

Miss Glenda Adams of 31 Knotty Pine Drive, Hawkinsville, Georgia, died Saturday, March 29, 2025, at the Taylor Regional Hospital in Hawkinsville, Georgia.

The funeral service will be held Saturday, April 5, 2025, at 3:00 PM in the sanctuary of the Big Poplar Spring Baptist Church in Unadilla, Georgia.  The burial will follow in the churchyard cemetery.

Glenda Adams was born on March 27, 1948, to John Green Adams and Nancy Lee Adams. She was a cherished daughter who brought joy to her family from an early age. Glenda completed her high school education at Vienna High & Industrial School, graduating in 1965 with bright prospects and a heart full of dreams.

She moved to New York City in 1965 where she worked for Broadcast Music Incorporated (BMI).  BMI later moved to Nashville, Tennessee, where she lived until she retired.  While in Nashville she became an active member of the Jackson Street Baptist Church serving diligently as an usher. Her faith was a cornerstone of her life, guiding her through her life's journey.

When Glenda retired, she chose to move to Hawkinsville, Georgia.  Her move allowed her to reconnect with her roots and her beloved Big Poplar Spring Baptist Church in Unadilla, Georgia, where she continued to embody the spirit of community and love.

Glenda's warmth extended to everyone she met although she could be direct with a polished opinion.  She was known for her deep love for her family, especially cherishing her time with her dog, Zuri. Her friendships were vital to her, and she delighted in long, meaningful conversations, often leaving those around her enriched and inspired.

Her passion for gardening was evident in her beautifully maintained landscapes, which were adorned with the flowers she adored. Glenda's culinary favorites included Amici pizza and shrimp boils, and she often shared her love for food with others through gracious gifts from QVC, including popcorn, bagels, meats and unique gadgets she discovered on television.

Glenda's departure from this world on Saturday, March 29, 2025, left a void in the hearts of many. She is preceded in death by her loving parents and her brother, John Adams, Jr. However, the memories of her life continue to be cherished by her family and a host of friends.  Those who remain to honor her legacy include her loving sisters, Vera Brown (Charlie James) and Clemmie Adams of Hawkinsville, Georgia; her devoted niece and goddaughter, Tara Monique Adams of Hawkinsville, Georgia; her special nieces, Felicia Thomas, Zamaya Thomas, and Zakiya Thomas of Federal Way, Washington; her special nephew, Zachariaha Thomas of Federal Way, Washington; her special cousins, Vaughn Holmes (LaKeitha) of Fort Valley, Georgia; countless other relatives and friends.
