Mr. Gennie Dowdell of 267 Bagley Street, Desoto, Georgia, died Sunday, October 19, 2025, at the Phoebe-Sumter Medical Center in Americus, Georgia.

The funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 25, 2025, at 10:00 AM in the chapel of the J. W. Williams Funeral Home in Cordele, Georgia.  The burial will follow at the Zion Hope Cemetery in Desoto, Georgia.

Everyone entering the funeral home for visitations or services is required to wear a mask and maintain social distancing.  A mask must be worn throughout the stay.  You must supply your mask.

Gennie Dowdell rested peacefully in God's hands on October 19, 2025. Gennie was born to Mrs. Florine Dowdell and Mr. Grant Dowdell on July 27, 1946, in   Desoto, Georgia. Gennie was a shining light in the lives of all who had the privilege to know him.

Gennie is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Dean; one son, Shawn Dowdell; two daughters, Keisha Dowdell-Littles (Ricardo Littles) Stephanie Dowdell (Paul Nelson); two grandkids, Rhian Hughes Dowdell and Myles Littles; three sisters, Annette Hubbard, Laverne Whitten, and Catherine Lowe; two brothers, Silas   Dowdell (Doreatha) and Albert Dowdell (Dorothy); three sisters-in-law, Joanne Harrell (Robert), Phyllis Wright, and Joyce Jones (Bill); three brothers-in-law, Arthur Wright (Evelyn), David Wright (Kechie), and  Willie Greene; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and special friend, Johnny Mathis; three special   cousins, Lawrence "Bobo" Williams, Ray Holloway, and Maurice Dowdell.
