Ms. Geneva Bridges of Powder Springs, Georgia passed away Saturday, November 9, 2024 at the Powder Springs Center for Nursing and Healing in Powder Springs, Georgia.
The funeral service will be held Saturday, November 23, 2024, at 10:00 AM in the Greater Gum Creek Baptist Church sanctuary in Cordele, Georgia. The burial will follow at the Greater Gum Creek Cemetery in Cordele, Georgia.
Ms. Geneva Bridges was born March 17, 1948, in Cordele, Georgia she was born to the union of the late Marvin Bridges Sr. and Daisy Mae Grant Bridges. She received the Lord early and worshiped at Greater Gum Creek Baptist Church.
Geneva graduated from A. S. Clark High School with the class of 1966. She later moved to New York and attended The City College of New York, where she earned both her bachelor's and Master's degrees in Education. Upon moving to Atlanta, she was employed at Paul D. West Middle School as a Special Education teacher. During her years of service enriching the minds of young people, she received numerous awards for her work and dedication.
After retiring, she developed her love for working in her yard and her crafting.
On Saturday, November 9, 2024, she peacefully joined her parents, Marvin Bridges Sr. and Daisy Mae Grant Bridges in a land of perfect rest. Her siblings, Bob, Bennie, Marvin Jr., and William "Jimmy" Bridges, also preceded her in death.
She is survived by her loving and caring family, her siblings, Dorothy (Velton) Hines of Jonesboro, Georgia, Frank (Miriam) Bridges of Brunswick, New Jersey, Johnny (Jeanette) Bridges of Trenton, New Jersey, Helen Hart of Powder Springs, Georgia and Lloyd (Debra) Bridges of Cordele, Georgia; her nephews, Timothy Bridges and Demetrius Wilson; a host of other nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends, to include, Anthony West.
