Obituary

United States Army Veteran Mr. Gary Simpson of 321 Barton Avenue, Albany, Georgia, died Thursday, December 4, 2025, at his residence.

The funeral service will be held on Friday, December 12, 2025, at 12:00 Noon in the chapel of the J. W. Williams Funeral Home in Cordele, Georgia.  The burial, with military honors, will follow at the Bethel Cemetery in Cordele, Georgia.

Everyone entering the funeral home for visitations or services is required to wear a mask and maintain social distancing.  A mask must be worn throughout the stay.  You must supply your mask.

Gary Simpson, born on October 2, 1954, in Cordele, Crisp County, Georgia, was a beloved son, brother, and friend. He was born to Samuel Simpson and Virginia Rose Bryant Simpson.

Gary grew up in Crisp County, where he attended and graduated from the public schools. His formative years in Cordele were filled with learning and growth, laying the foundation for his future endeavors.

Demonstrating his dedication to his country, Gary served in the United States Army. During his military career, he earned several medals and commendations, a testament to his bravery, commitment, and exemplary service. His time in the  Army was marked by honor and a sense of duty that resonated throughout his life.

From an early age, Gary was a member of the Gethsemane Missionary Baptist Church, where he cultivated a deep spiritual foundation. Later in life, upon moving to Albany, Georgia, he became a member of the Gaines Avenue Church of Christ. His faith was a guiding light, and he was known for his kind spirit.

On Thursday, December 4, 2025, Gary Simpson peacefully transitioned at his residence. He will be remembered for his unwavering loyalty to his family and friends. Gary was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel and Virginia Simpson, and his brother, Larry Simpson.

He leaves behind a loving family, including his sister, Sandra Ann Simpson of Albany, Georgia; his brother, Marvin Simpson (Diane) of Cordele, Georgia; a host of cousins, other relatives, and many sorrowing friends.
