Evangelist Melda Yzette Bass of 307 West 20th Avenue, Cordele, Georgia, died Thursday, September 11, 2025, at the Crisp Regional Hospital in Cordele, Georgia.

The funeral service will be held on Sunday, September 21, 2025, at 2:00 PM in the sanctuary of the Straight Life Church of God Pentecostal in Cordele, Georgia.  The burial will follow at the Sunnyside Cemetery in  Cordele, Georgia.

Evangelist Melda Yzette Bass, affectionately known as "Yzette," was born May 31, 1956, in Cordele, Crisp County, GA.  She was the cherished daughter of Matthew Bass and Cinderella Ray Bass. She peacefully transitioned from labor to reward on Thursday, September 11, 2025, at 9:35 PM.

Yzette's journey of faith began early in life when she accepted Christ as her personal Savior and united with the First Assembly of God. She later joined the Straight Life Church of God Pentecostal under the guidance of Bishop Fred Williams, where she served with unwavering dedication. Her spirit of praise and rejoicing was a testament to her deep faith, regardless of life's challenges.

A proud 1974 graduate of Crisp County High School, Yzette furthered her education at Johnson C. Smith University in Charlotte, NC. She was honored to pledge and become a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. Graduating on May 21, 1978, with a Bachelor of Science degree, she went on to work as a Para-Professional at Crisp County High School for many years until her retirement in 2015 due to health reasons. Her love for the children she mentored, counseled, and prayed for was boundless, and her influence on their lives was immeasurable.

Yzette's life was a testament to her steadfast devotion to God and her community. She was actively involved in her church, participating in the Feed the Hungry Program and the Outreach ministry. Through her efforts, she brought an estimated 300 children to church, instilling in them the love of God, the power of prayer, and the significance of faith. Her favorite phrase, "I Give God All the Glory for Everything He has Done,"  encapsulated her life's philosophy.

Ordained as an Evangelist on October 22, 2016, by the order of the Holy Spirit with Christ's Assembly in the Straight Life Church of God             Pentecostal, Inc. in Decatur, GA, Yzette was a beacon of hope and faith to all who knew her.

Yzette's love for her family was profound, especially for her nieces and nephews, who were the joy of her life and her great nieces and great nephews had a very special place in her heart.  She was preceded in death by her parents, her caring brothers, Matthew Carl Bass and Matthew Hughes, and her loving sister, Melody Diane Bass.

Evangelist Melda Yzette Bass's life was a testament to her faith, love, and unwavering spirit. Her legacy will continue to inspire all who knew her. She now rests in eternal peace, free from pain and suffering, embraced by the love of God.  She leaves behind cherished memories to her devoted nieces, Yzenetra L. Adams (Brandhon) and Cinderella R. Bass both of Cordele, GA; her great nieces and nephews, S'Deja T. Lowe Williams (Jakevien) of Chesapeake, VA, Sha'Bria T. Lowe Oliver (Gregory) of Virginia Beach, VA, Ashakia A. Bass, Mario D. Adams, and Matthew C. Bass all of Cordele, GA; and her great, great nephews and niece, Camden J. Williams, Gabriel M. Oliver, Cayden J. Williams, Josiah H. Oliver, Kayson J. Adams, and Ja'Harmonie Bass; her loving sister-in-law, Leacia Bass of Cordele, GA; her beloved aunts, Pastor Ethel Mae Brown and Angeline Washington of Vero Beach, FL, and Josephine Crawford of Melbourne, FL; special cousins, Shirley Long (Elder Curtis) of Nashville, TN, Beautie Brinson of Warner Robins, GA, Garfield Richardson and Charles Ray of Winter Haven, FL, Robert Harris of Columbus, GA, Julia Brown, Velma Ray, Minister Janice Sales, Quida Carr,  and Naomi Stubbs all of Cordele, GA, and Dr. Jennifer Ray of Savannah, GA and Patricia Beal of Melbourne, FL; her dear friends, Nancy Street of Cordele, GA, Patti Barnes and her mom, Wilma Loy of Elon, NC, Sister  Billie Cheatham Rodgers and Brandalyn Rodgers, Esq. of Dallas, TX; a host of other relatives and a multitude of friends.
