Obituary

Mrs. Elnora Blanks Cross of 601 West 26th Avenue, Cordele, Georgia died Tuesday, May 31, 2022 at her residence.

The funeral service will be held Sunday, June 5, 2022 at 2:00 PM in the sanctuary of the Mount Zion First African Baptist Church in Cordele, Georgia.  The burial will follow at the Vienna City Cemetery in Vienna, Georgia.  Everyone in attendance is asked to please wear a mask and to practice social distancing.

Mrs. Elnora Blanks Cross was born August 22, 1952 in Cordele, Crisp County, Georgia.  She was born to the late Mr. John Henry Blanks and the late Mrs. Carrie L. Williams Blanks.

Affectionately called "Nora" by her family and friends, she received her education from the Crisp County Public School System.

She was affiliated with the Beulahland Baptist Church for many years.  In 2017, she joined and became a born again soldier for Christ and worked in the Holy Evangelistic Temple of God Ministry until her death.

Nora was a singer who loved to sing God's praises.  Over the years she sang with several groups, to include, The Blanks Sisters and The Gospel Jerusalem Singers.  She also served as an Usher and assisted with the Pastoral Team at H.E.T.O.G.

Born with the "gift of helps," she always exemplified Christ's teachings by sharing love to all she met along the way.  A great cook, she loved to fish.  She loved her family.  She will be remembered for her love and how you never wondered what she was thinking, because if she had something to tell you, she definitely would.

She was joined in holy matrimony to Mr. Henry Floyd Cross who preceded her in death.  She is also preceded in death by her sisters, Mrs. Jewel (Joseph) Griffin, Mrs. Bernice Glenn, Ms. Ruby Lee Blanks, and Mrs. Johnnie Mae Hoskins and her brothers, Mr. Alfred Blanks, Mr. James Blanks, Mr. Jerry Blanks, Mr. Charlie James Blanks, Sr., Mr. Jessie James Blanks, Sr. and Mr. Johnnie C. Lewis.

On Tuesday, May 31, 2022 she peacefully transitioned, leaving cherished memories to her loving and devoted family, her grandchildren, she raised as her own, Mrs. Kendra Terry and Mrs. Jessica Rush and a great nephew, Mr. Jessie Blanks, III all of Cordele, Georgia; her bonus children, Mrs. Sonya McKenzie, Mr. Henry (Nebbie) Cross, Jr., and Mrs. Yvonne West all of Cordele, Georgia; her goddaughter, Mrs. Trina Paul Santrunk of Cordele, Georgia; a number of bonus grandchildren; her devoted sister, Mrs. Rosa (Billy) Sanford of Cordele, Georgia; her loving brother, Mr. Otis James (Mary) Blanks of Cordele, Georgia; a host of nieces and nephews, to include a devoted niece, Mrs. Barbara (Gary) Williams of Palm Bay, Florida; many great nieces and great nephews; a host of cousins, to include her special cousins, Mrs. Jessie Kate Harmon of Cordele, Georgia and Bishop Maggie Washington of Smithville, Alabama; three brothers-in-law, Mr. Benjamin Tolbert, Mr. Matthew Sanford, and Mrs. Dorothy Miller all of Jacksonville, Florida; two sisters-in-law;  her devoted friends and co-workers, Mrs. Ruth Lingefelt  and Ms. Justine Jeffery of Cordele, Georgia; her loving Overseer, Apostle W. M. Holmes of Ideal, Georgia; many sorrowing friends and many loving church members at H.E.T.O.G. and C. O. M. E. God's Way, Inc.
