Obituary

Mrs. Eleanor Harris Wiley affectionately known as "Pat" of 609 Whitney Avenue, Albany, Georgia died Tuesday, June 4, 2024 at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital in Albany, Georgia.

The funeral service will be held Saturday,  June 15, 2024 at 10:00 AM in the sanctuary of New Birth Fellowship Church in Albany,  Georgia.   The  burial will follow at Rose Lawn Gardens Cemetery in Albany, Georgia.

Our beloved Eleanor Harris Wiley graced this world with her    presence on December 6, 1942, Warwick, Georgia, born to the loving embrace of Willie and Georgia Mae Harris.  Known affectionately as "Pat", she was one of eight children who was reared in the home.

Pat's spiritual journey through life took root at the Mount Olive Baptist Church where the family faithfully worshiped.  Blessed with a beautiful voice, she sang in the choir for many years.

She married Mr. Leamon Wiley in 1993.  It was at this time she continued her spiritual walk as a member of the US 19 Church of Christ.

Educated under the guidance of the Worth County School System, she was a graduate of J. W. Holley High School in Sylvester, Georgia.  Her love and the joy she had for children was always evident as she worked as a bus driver and substitute teacher in her hometown school system. From 1981-1998, Pat was employed by General Motors as a Quality Control Inspector.  Many lifelong friendships were created during these years.  Even after retiring, she would often reminisce about her work family.

A woman of impeccable style, her infectious smile and genuine kindness endeared her to all who knew her. Whether as an Eastern Star or walking through her neighborhood, her presence illuminated every room and her absence leaves a void that can never be filled.

On Tuesday, June 4, 2024, our beloved "Pat" transitioned from this earthly realm to a place prepared for those who love the Lord.  Her  husband, Leamon; her daughter, Cathy Mathis; her parents, Willie & Georgia; her brothers, Willie Fred and Joey, and her sister/cousin, Essie each preceded her in death.

In the hearts of those who loved her, Pat's memory will forever reside, a beacon of light guiding them through the darkest days.  She is survived by her loving and devoted children, Ms. Lisa Ausby, Ms. Cynthia Thomas, Mr. Morris Rogers, and Deacon Scottie (Sonya) Brooks all of Albany, Georgia; her stepchildren, Mr. Derrick Wiley of Texas, Mr. Elvin Wiley and Mr. Meon Wiley both of Atlanta, Georgia, and Reverend Dexter (Renee) Taylor of Douglas, Georgia; 12 grandchildren, Jeffery, Latoya, Amelia, Ocean, Christy, Cha'Angel, Sedrick, Saniyah, Serenity, Kiandria, London, and Lenard; six great grandchildren; her loving sisters, Mrs. Arzella Vance of Sylvester, Georgia, Mrs. Melvia Beaton of Macon, Georgia, and Mrs. Brawner Harris of Albany, Georgia; her devoted brothers, Deacon Charles (Josephine) Harris and Deacon Dennis (Sherri) Harris both of Albany, Georgia; a sister-in-law, Minister Pam Harris of Leesburg, Georgia; a host of  nieces and nephews whom she dearly loved; many cousins, other relatives and many sorrowing friends.
