Ms. Eddie Mae Lavant Gaston of 702 West 27th Avenue, Cordele, Georgia, died Friday, April 10, 2026, at the Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital in Albany, Georgia.

The funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 18, 2026, at 10:00 AM, in the chapel of the J. W. Williams Funeral Home in Cordele, Georgia.  The burial will follow at the Bethel Cemetery in Cordele, Georgia.

Everyone entering the funeral home for visitations or services is required to wear a mask and maintain social distancing.  A mask must be worn throughout the stay.  You must supply your mask.

A TIME TO BE BORN:  On September 29, 1951, a beautiful body girl was born to the late Mr. Ned and Mrs. Carrie Lee Brown Lavant.

A TIME TO LEARN:  She was educated in the public schools of Crisp County and she completed further training at Riley     Training Institute for Business.

A TIME TO LOVE:  Eddie Mae was a loving mother, daughter, sister, aunt, grandmother, cousin, and cheerful friend.  She was always willing to help whomever she could, even when she would be going through her own pains, she was still concerned with the well-being of others.  Her doors were always opened to all.

A TIME TO LAUGH:  The joy of her life was being around her family and friends.  She loved cooking, planting her flowers, reading, fishing, and most of all going to church and playing with GG her dog.

A TIME TO BUILD:  Eddie Mae worked in Food Services for many years.  She was a Head Cook at Great Barn and Fast Stop.

A TIME OF PEACE:  Eddie Mae Lavant Gaston departed this life on Friday, April 10, 2026, at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital in Albany, Georgia.  She has now gone to be with her Lord and Savior in that beautiful home in the sky.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. Ned and Mrs. Carrie Lee Lavant, her sister, Mrs. Maxine Smith, and her brother, Mr. Willie Lele Lavant.

A TIME TO MOURN:  Her memory will be cherished by her  loving and devoted children, two sons, Mr. Aaron Tyrone Gaston and Mr. Gregory Bernard Gaston; one daughter, Ms. Tracey Glenn of Atlanta, Georgia; 20 grandchildren; a host of great grands; her brothers, Mr. JR (Costella) Lavant, Mr. AB (Valerie) Lavant, Mr. Calvin Lavant, Mr. Eddie Lee (Carolyn) Lavant, and Mr. Michael (Betty) Lavant; her sisters, Ms. Patricia Turner and Ms. Waverly Gaskins; her very devoted aunts, Ms. Rose Ford and Mrs. Maggie Brown; many special friends, to include, Mrs. Sandra Pate, Ms. Tiffany Graham, Mrs. Linda Walker, Ms. Lawanda Manning, Ms. Ruby Jones, Ms. Ella Harvey, Ms. JoAnn Glenn, Ms. Faye Dennard, and the St. James Baptist Church Family, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many sorrowing friends.
