Mr. Eddie George Allen, Sr. of 158 Pheasant Drive, Americus, Georgia died Saturday, August 12, 2023 at the St. Francis Hospital in Columbus, Georgia.
The funeral service will be held Sunday, August 20, 2023 at 2:00 PM in the sanctuary of the Friendship Baptist Church in Americus, Georgia. The burial will follow at the Eastview Cemetery in Americus, Georgia.
The union of Mr. George Allen and Mrs. Daisy L. Allen was blessed with the birth of a son. They named their blessing, Eddie George Allen. He was born July 10, 1950 in Sumter County, Georgia.
Eddie was educated in the public school system. He was a proud 1968 graduate of Staley High School.
At a young age he accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior. He was a member of the Antioch Baptist Church.
Eddie loved sports, especially fishing and swimming. He will be remembered as a man who spoke his mind.
Cooking and feeding others was something he took pride in. His love for family was always evident. He had a very special love for his great granddaughter, Azaria.
On Saturday, August 12, 2023, our beloved sailed away to be with the Lord. Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his son, Jon Christopher Allen; his brother, Randolph Allen and his grandson, Eddie Allen, III.
Cherishing his life and the joy he imparted, he leaves his loving and devoted wife, Rosa Allen of Americus, Georgia; his loving and devoted children, Eddie G. Allen, Jr. (Monica) of Conyers, Georgia and Amaka L. Allen of Decatur, Georgia; his stepchildren, Lorinda A. Phillips, Angela D. Phillips and Antwana T. Phillips; his grandchildren, Nigel Nykell Allen and Ja'quez Shamar Allen; a great granddaughter, Azaria Michelle Allen; eight step grandchildren; 13 step great grandchildren; a devoted cousin/sister, Emma J. Jones of College Park, Georgia; his aunts and uncles, Lottie M. Bell, Alice Bell (George) and Olivia Webster (Alfred) of Passaic, New Jersey, and Alonza Allen (Elizabeth) of South Carolina; his sisters-in-law, Patricia T. Allen of Stone Mountain, Georgia, Tammy Reese and Carla Thomas of Carrollton, Georgia and Gale Walker of Villa Rica, Georgia; his brothers-in-law, Eddie Charles (Marilyn) Reese and Willie Reese of Carrollton, Georgia and Joe (Tonya) Reese of Douglasville, Georgia; a devoted niece, Cattani Allen of Conyers, Georgia; his cousins, Eugene Petty (Sandra) of Sanford, Florida, Robert Petty (Nora) of Americus, Georgia, Clayton Jones (Gayla) of West Palm Beach, Florida, Charles Jones of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, Lucille Hadley (Ted) of Ocala, Florida and Kayillsa Prince of Valdosta, Georgia; a host of other relatives and many sorrowing friends.
