Mrs. Dorothy Jean Solomon Mathis of 114 Mill Street, Desoto, Georgia, died Thursday, May 22, 2025, at the Phoebe Sumter Medical Center in Americus, Georgia.

The funeral service will be held Monday, May 26, 2025, at 11:00 AM at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses in Americus, Georgia.  The burial will follow at the Eastview Cemetery in Americus, Georgia.

Dorothy Jean Mathis passed away peacefully on May 22, 2025. She was born on January 17, 1958, in Sumter County, Georgia to the late Mr. Willie D. Solomon and Mrs. Mary Lou Golden Paul. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She is survived by her loving devoted husband of 50 years, Mr. Johnny Mathis Sr., Desoto, Georgia; two sons, Christopher Mathis (Tonya), Dublin, Georgia and Johnny Mathis, Jr. (Jessica), Camden, Arkansas; one sister, Mrs. Marilyn Mance (Sidney), Kissimmee, Florida; one brother, Mr. Kenneth T. Solomon, Americus,  Georgia; two aunts, Mrs. Annie Ruth Livingston, Gaston, South Carolina and Mrs. Alma Solomon, Americus, Georgia; her mother-in-law, Mrs. Vickie Mae Mathis  of Desoto, Georgia; seven sisters-in-law, Ms. Rena Watts, Leslie, Georgia, Mrs. Adelle Talley (Shay), Orlando, Florida, Ms. Lucy McKenzie, Desoto, Georgia, Mrs. Mary  Thomas (William), Leslie, Georgia, Mrs. Ruthie King (Greg), Leslie, Georgia, Mrs. Linda Hawkins (Walter), Leslie, Georgia, and Mrs. Vivian Council (James), Valdosta, Georgia; two   brothers-in-law, Mr. Bobby Mathis (AMM), San Antoino, Texas and Henry Mathis (Beverly), Americus, Georgia; three    grandchildren, Jha 'Neisha Mathis, Desoto, Georgia, Ms. Ashya Mathis, Marietta, Georgia, and Ms. Kashawna Mathis, Maryland; two great grandchildren, Michael Mathis and Kyrie Williams, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends.

She was educated in the Sumter County Public School System. Through all her accomplishments as a wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, great grandmother, her greatest love and accomplishment was when she dedicated her life to Jehovah through baptism on July 3, 1982. She loved the ministry going door to door, when she was in good health, teaching all who she met about the wonderful hope of living forever on earth in peace without sickness and death. She also had the grand privilege of raising her granddaughter, Jha 'Neisha Mathis, who was her pride and joy, she instilled in her bible truths, respect, and love.

She was a beautiful sweet and loving person, very straight forward, said what she meant, and meant what she said. She loved Almighty God Jehovah and reading the bible, she loved cooking and cleaning, always had a listening ear, she had a way of making others smile and loved her spiritual family.
