Mr. Donnson Smith of 278 Travelers Rest Road, Montezuma, Georgia, died Friday, February 27, 2026, at Atrium Health in Macon, Georgia.
The funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 7, 2026, at 3:00 PM in the sanctuary of the New Hope Baptist Church in Montezuma, Georgia. The burial will follow in the churchyard cemetery.
Donnson Smith was born on February 13, 1964, in Macon County, Georgia, to Richard Smith, Sr., and Elizabeth Miller Smith. Raised in a loving household, he shared his childhood with his siblings Bunice, Ruth Ann, Richard, Jr., and Earl J., all of whom have preceded him in death. From a young age, Donnson was instilled with strong family values that shaped his remarkable life. As a child he attended the Spring Hill Baptist Church in Marshallville, Georgia, and continued fellowshipping with various churches in the community.
Donnson was educated in the Macon County School System, where he formed many lifelong commitments. He proudly graduated from D. F. Douglas High School in 1982, setting the foundation for a life marked by perseverance and dedication. His passion for carpentry and love of sports were well-known among friends and family.
Donnson was cherished for his vibrant personality and memorable sayings, such as "If ain't bout a dolla - don't even mo holla, I'll holla" and "How bout it today - make somebody happy." These phrases encapsulated his positive, driven outlook on life.
On February 27, 2026, Donnson transitioned peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of love, kindness, and community commitment. His life continues to inspire those who had the privilege to know him.
Donnson Smith will always be remembered for his unwavering love for his family, his kindness to others, and his commitment to his community. His legacy lives on through the memories shared by those who knew him.
Donnson's memory is cherished by his wife, Cathy Fulks Smith; his daughter, Elizabeth Cowart-Pride of West Palm Beach, Florida; and his beloved grandchildren, Dajah Pride, Edwin Pride, III, and Marcus Pride; his sisters, Viola Mann of West Palm Beach, Florida, Louise Smith and Patricia Smith of Montezuma, Georgia, and Kimberly Thomas of Albany, Georgia; his brother, Robert Smith (Felicia) of Montezuma, Georgia.; his aunts, Ernestine Moore of Montezuma, Georgia, and Betty Rackley and Leroy Miller of Atlanta, Georgia; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends, to include, Liza Tuff and Angela Mathis of Montezuma, Georgia.
