Mr. Dexter Lamond Johnson of Rochelle, Georgia, died Sunday, November 23, 2025, at Taylor Regional Hospital in Hawkinsville, Georgia.

The funeral service will be held Saturday, November 29, 2025, at 3:00 PM at the SOK Building in Rochelle, Georgia.  The burial will follow at New Travelers Home Cemetery in Abbeville, Georgia.

Dexter Lamond Johnson, born on February 24, 1977, in Ben Hill County, Georgia, brought joy and warmth to everyone he encountered. He was the beloved son of Joe Brooks and Lizzie Queen Lawson Johnson. Dexter spent his formative years in Wilcox County, where he attended and graduated from Wilcox County High School. His roots and faith were deeply anchored in the community as a member of the New Travelers Home Missionary Baptist Church in Abbeville, Georgia.

Dexter was a man of many passions and interests. He was known for his generous spirit, always ready to extend a helping hand and show compassion to others. His love for people was evident in the way he cared for those around him. Dexter had a particular fondness for flowers, which reflected his vibrant personality and zest for life. He was often found singing and dancing, bringing smiles to everyone around him.

His appreciation for fashion and clothing design was another expression of his creative spirit. Dexter enjoyed engaging in intellectual pursuits, such as watching "Jeopardy", exploring the   wonders of "National Geographic", and debating a wide range of topics with enthusiasm and insight.

Dexter Lamond Johnson's life was a testament to love, joy, and kindness. He will be remembered for his vibrant spirit and the indelible mark he left on the hearts of all who knew him.

Dexter's journey on this earth concluded on Sunday, November 23, 2025, as he transitioned from life to life eternal. His memory is cherished by his loved ones, who continue to celebrate the life he lived and the legacy he leaves behind.  His father, Joe Brooks, preceded him in death.

Dexter is survived by his loving mother, Lizzie Q. Johnson of Rochelle, Georgia; his sisters, Tawana Lawson of Pineview, Georgia, Jennifer Johnson of Norcross, Georgia, Tamara Johnson-Oliver (Demetria) of Savannah, Georgia, and Tomekia Grady of Meridian, Mississippi, his brothers, Reverend Travis Johnson (Onzia) of Ocilla, Georgia, Jowan Johnson (Courtney) of Rochelle, Georgia, Edward Brooks of St. Petersburg, Florida, and Jay McDonald of Iowa; his aunts and uncles, Frances Dixon and Jennette Miller of Rochelle, Georgia, Queen Woodham (John), Linda Lawson, and Kenneth Lawson of Abbeville, Georgia, Dean Lawson of Miami, Florida, Hattie Cole, Mattie McCarty, Clara Brooks, Mattie Brooks and Suseaner Brooks all of Meridian, Mississippi, Adleaner Knighton of Montgomery, Alabama, Robert Brooks, Jr. and Johnny Brooks of Cleveland, Ohio, and Elijah Brooks of Birmingham, Alabama; his godson, Robert Haynes, Jr. of Abbeville, Georgia; his god sister,  Odessa Brown and her siblings; his special nieces, Shundreka Lawson of LaGrange, Georgia, and Trajata Colbert of Wichita, Kansas, a special cousin, Jane Dean of Rochelle, Georgia; a special friend,  Charity Rodgers of Fayetteville, Georgia; a host of other relatives and sorrowing friends, honor his memory.
