Mr. Devon Alexander Briggs of 368 Hobbs & Briggs Road, Buena Vista, Georgia, died Monday, April 20, 2026, in Augusta, Georgia.

The memorial service will be held on Sunday, May 3, 2026, at 1:00 PM at the Fox Hall in Buena Vista, Georgia.

Devon Alexander Briggs was born in Macon, Georgia, on August 27, 2002, to Karmen and Kevin Briggs. The oldest of three children, Devon spent his early years in Warner Robins, Georgia, where he attended school and distinguished himself as an academic standout and high achiever. He was known not only for his intelligence but for his warm, friendly personality and approachable nature.

He attended Nease High School in Ponte Vedra, Florida, and later Marion County High School in Buena Vista, Georgia. During his school years, he was an active and talented athlete, playing both JV and Varsity football and competing on multiple travel baseball teams. Baseball was where he truly shone—excelling as both a pitcher and center fielder. Nearly a decade of competing throughout the Southeast, he earned numerous awards and accolades, including records for the highest number of stolen bases and highest on-base percentage. One of his most memorable moments came at age 16, when he played on a Major League field in West Palm Beach, Florida, hitting a powerful ball to left field that sailed out of the park.

A dedicated student, Devon consistently challenged himself through AP coursework and dual enrollment classes at Georgia Southwestern University. He earned honor roll recognition every year, demonstrating both discipline and academic excellence. He also achieved AutoCAD certification before graduating with the Class of 2020.

His hard work and commitment were recognized with approximately $400,000 in merit-based academic scholarships. Devon went on to attend Mercer University, where he studied Computer Science. He was driven by a natural curiosity and a deep passion for learning, with a particular interest in mathematics and science.

Devon later became an integral part of his family's MAACO business, where he managed the shop with dedication and pride. He continuously pushed himself to learn new skills, including bodywork and paint preparation. His strong work ethic, positive spirit, and genuine kindness made him deeply valued and respected by his coworkers.

Outside of work, Devon enjoyed gaming, cars, watching anime, baseball, and spending time with friends. He had a natural gift for making people laugh and feel at ease, leaving a lasting impression on everyone he met.

Above all, he was an extraordinary big brother. He led with love, loyalty, and quiet strength—always offering encouragement, protection, and support. The bond he shared with his siblings was something truly special and will always be cherished. Devon dreamed of becoming a pilot, and he once experienced the freedom of flight—a moment that reflected his belief that anything was within reach.

He leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and deep connection to loved ones. He will be profoundly missed. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Ransom and Doris Briggs, his aunt Kierstyn Wright, his first cousin Kaidyn X. Carrion, and his best friend Charles Brown.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving parents, Kevin and Karmen Briggs, grandparents Jeffrey and Anita Williams, grandfather Thomas R. Wright, great-grandmother Reyon Ernest, siblings Dominic Briggs and Kadyn Briggs, aunts and uncles Bhowan and Gail Ramdhanny, Terrence and Pamela Verette, Patricia Freeman, Henry, Geneva Rush, Cheryl D. Roberts, Jesse G., and Veda R. Ernest, Rita R. Copeland, Henry P., and Dolly Ernest, Lester and Bobbie Reed, Samuel and Delaine Singleton, first cousin Jasmine Verette, godparents, and family Jake, Kristy, Haley, and Jaxson Dempsey, family friends Marcus and Juwana Trainer, and Royce Bonaventure, along with a host of other cousins and friends.
