United States Army Veteran, Mr. Desmond "Dez" Nahshon Campbell of 203 Staley Street, Americus, Georgia died Wednesday, June 14, 2023 at Advent Health Central Texas in Killeen, Texas.
The funeral service will be held Tuesday, June 27, 2023 at 11:00 AM in the sanctuary of the Friendship Baptist Church in Americus, Georgia. The burial, with military honors, will follow at the Andersonville National Cemetery in Andersonville, Georgia.
On June 12, 1998 a bouncing baby boy was welcomed to this world. Desmond Nahshon Campbell was born in Americus, Georgia to Christy Carter Robinson and Albert Merritt Campbell, Jr.
"Dez," as he was affectionately called by his family and friends, possessed a kind and thoughtful spirit. Growing up and receiving his education from the public schools of Sumter County, he touched the lives of many along the way.
After the completion of high school, he enlisted in the United States Army and served his country with honor and distinction. He was honorably discharged having earned many medals and awards for his service.
Dez will be fondly remembered as an individual who could always make you laugh. He could fill any room with his presence.
On Wednesday, June 14, 2023 our beloved son and brother transitioned from this world. He will forever live on in our hearts. He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Mrs. Patricia Battle Henderson and Mr. Earl McCrary; his great grandparents, Mr. David & Mrs. Emma Battle, Reverend J. R. & Mrs. Mamie Campbell, Mrs. Dora Elizabeth Hudson Carter and Mr. Clyde Carter.
Forever remembering his life, he leaves his loving and devoted family: his mother, Mrs. Christy (Kenneth Wade) Robinson of Americus, Georgia; his father, Mr. Albert Merritt (Catrina Jordan) Campbell of Albany, Georgia; his sisters, Ms. Chasity S. Carter and Ms. Brittany K. Robinson of Americus, Georgia, Ms. Ashanti Campbell and Ms. Tiaura Campbell of Albany, Georgia; his brothers, Mr. Canaan Campbell and Mr. Albert Campbell, III of Albany, Georgia; his stepsister, Ms. Derica Guinyard of Albany, Georgia; his stepbrother, Mr. Jadon McKinney of Albany, Georgia; his grandparents, Mrs. Beverly McCrary, Mr. Horace Carter, and Mr. Albert (Carolyn) Campbell, Sr. of Americus, Georgia; his aunts and uncles, Mrs. Kimberly (David) Campbell, Mrs. Sharon Johnson, Mrs. Yolanda (Kevin) Carter, Ms. Tara Carter, Mr. Steven Carter, Mrs. Crystal (Curtis) Tatum, and Ms. Ashleigh Campbell of Americus, Georgia, Ms. Octavia Campbell of Macon, Georgia, Mr. Marcus Campbell of Charleston, West Virginia, Mr. Brandon (Tiffany) Campbell of Leesburg, Georgia, Mrs. Brandi (Steven) Powell of Warner Robins, Georgia; his nephew, Kemari Campbell of Albany, Georgia; his step nieces and nephews, Karlee Williams, Karmen Williams, Brayden Moore and Kayden Moore; a host of cousins, to include a devoted cousin, Mr. Devyn Coley; other relatives and many sorrowing friends, to include his godson, Onyx Xade Walker of Killeen, Texas.
