Deaconess Johnnie Mae Griffin Campbell of 1006 South 10th Street, Cordele, Georgia, died Friday, March 21, 2025 at the Palm Beach Gardens Medical Center in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida.

The funeral service will be held Saturday, March 29, 2025, at 1:00 PM in the sanctuary of the Mount Calvary Baptist Church in Cordele, Georgia.  The burial will follow at the Bethel Cemetery in Cordele, Georgia.

Deaconess Johnnie Mae Griffin Campbell was born on April 18, 1946, at the Worth County Hospital in Sylvester, Georgia. She was the beloved daughter of the late Florine Roberts and the late Cary Griffin, Sr.  Growing up in Crisp County, Johnnie received her education in the Crisp County public schools and graduated from A. S. Clark High School in 1965. During her high school years, she was an enthusiastic cheerleader, a role that showcased her vibrant spirit and dedication.

A faithful member of Mount Calvary Baptist Church, Johnnie served as a Deaconess. She had previously been a member of the church choir. Her involvement extended beyond her home church, as she often took part in Women's Day programs at other churches. Johnnie's spirit-filled voice was a beacon of encouragement as she frequently led devotional services.  She also enjoyed performing impromptu renditions of "Be Encouraged."

Johnnie was renowned for her unconditional love and outspoken nature. Her home was filled with the aroma of some of the best home-cooked meals one could ever wish to enjoy. Her culinary skills were a testament to her nurturing and generous spirit.

Professionally, Johnnie dedicated many years of service to the Cordele Uniform Company until its closure. Following that, she continued to spread joy and warmth while working in the deli at Harvey's Supermarket.

Deaconess Johnnie Mae Griffin Campbell's life was a true testament to love, faith, and service. Her memory lives on in the hearts of those who knew her, forever inspired by her unwavering devotion and vibrant spirit.  Johnnie was preceded in death by her husband, Deacon L. C. Campbell, on March 9, 2013. She was also preceded by her grandson, Darryl Sanders, Jr., and her siblings Cary Griffin, Jr., James Roberts, Johnny Roberts, and Georgia Mae Dean.

On Friday, March 21, 2025, she peacefully traded the cares of this life for life everlasting, leaving behind a rich legacy of love and cherished memories with her children: LaVera Walker Smith (Michael) of West Palm Beach,  Florida, Felicia Walker of West Palm Beach, Florida,  Eric Walker of Cordele, Georgia, and Edwin Williams (Sharon) of West Palm Beach, Florida; her grandchildren, Michael Smith, Jr., Shatarra Smith, Ambernicka Smith of West Palm Beach, Florida, Eric Walker, Jr. of Phoenix, Arizona, Vantavious Williams, Anthony Walker, Keyshawn   Williams, Sierra Walker, and Zykeria Williams of Cordele, Georgia; several great-grandchildren; her sisters, Shirley Outlaw (Alonza) of Atlanta, Georgia, Helen Ford (Eugene), Brenda Oliver (Sam Jr.), Elizabeth Griffin and Edna Griffin of Cordele, Georgia; her brother, Deacon Earl Griffin (Ruthie) of Cordele, Georgia; her nieces and nephews; her cousins, and a host of other relatives and many sorrowing friends.
