Deaconess Osie Dean Smith Outlaw of 402 East 19th Avenue, Cordele, Georgia died Friday, July 26, 2024 at the Crisp Regional Hospital in Cordele, Georgia.

The funeral service will be held Saturday, August 3, 2024, at 3:00 PM in the sanctuary of the Gethsemane Baptist Church in Cordele, Georgia.  The burial will follow at the Bethel Cemetery in Cordele, Georgia.

On March 3, 1946, a special and cherished gift was born to the union of James and Cealie Mae Smith. Their union was blessed with the birth of a daughter who they named, Osie Dean.

She was enrolled in the Crisp County Public School system where she was taught the importance of education. In 1964 she proudly graduated from the A. S. Clark High School.

"Sister Outlaw" as she was lovingly called by her Gethsemane Missionary Baptist Church family, loved the Lord and served him with all her might.  Having joined Gethsemane early in life, over the years she served as a Deaconess, and a member of the Usher Board and Senior Mission.  A studier of the word of God, she also taught Sunday School and served as the Adult Class Instructor of the Vacation Bible School.

She retired after 40+ years of employment with the Crisp County School system.  Staying busy, she worked as a Poll Worker for Crisp County Elections and was actively      involved in the NAACP. Completing word puzzles, reading, and watching television were among the many thing she enjoyed.  She also loved being with her family as they created cherished memories.

On Friday, July 26, 2024, our special and cherished gift peacefully said farewell to this earthly life.  Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Deacon Charles W. Outlaw; her siblings, Mrs. Mary Smith Booker, Mr. Johnnie James Smith, Mrs. Estella Roberts, and Mrs. Mary Ellen Deshazier.

The joy of her journey will be cherished by her loving and devoted son, Deacon Anthony Davis of Cordele, Georgia; her loving sister, Mrs. Gladys (Rufus) Boddie of Atlanta, Georgia; her caring brothers, Mr. Charlie L. Smith of Ellenwood, Georgia and Mr. Calvin Smith of Cordele, Georgia; a host of loving nieces and nephews; her in-laws, Mr. Jessie Roberts of Atlanta, Georgia, her beloved Outlaw Family; other relatives and many    sorrowing friends.
