Deacon Oscar Smith of 716 Winters Creek Drive, Doraville, Georgia died Monday, December 20, 2021 at his residence.

The graveside funeral service will be held Monday, December 27, 2021 at 12:00 Noon at the Vienna City Cemetery in Vienna, Georgia.  Everyone in attendance is asked to please wear a mask and to practice social distancing.

Deacon Oscar Smith was born December 27, 1939 in Dooly County, Georgia.  He was born to Mr. Esau Smith and Mrs. Leila Atkins Smith.

He was educated in the public schools of Dooly  County where he attended the Vienna High & Industrial School

A believer in Jesus Christ, he accepted him as his Lord and Savior.  A member of the Bethel Baptist Church, he was one of the first brothers to be ordained as a deacon under the pastorage of Reverend Moses A. Lee.

He enjoyed traveling and visiting family.  Cheering his favorite Atlanta Braves on and watching Monday Night Wrestling were also things he enjoyed doing.

On Monday, December 20, 2021, he left this world.  In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by his brothers, Mr. Esau Smith, Jr. Mr. Emmett Smith, Mr. J. W. Smith, Mr. Jake Smith, Mr. Thurman Smith, Mr. Alfred Smith, and Mr. Andrew Smith.

He leaves wonderful memories to his loving family, which include his sister, Mrs. Farris Laidler (Johnnie) of Vienna, Georgia; his brothers, Mr. Bobby Smith (Natalie) of Decatur, Georgia and Mr. Willie Joe Smith of Memphis, Tennessee; his sisters-in-law, Mrs. Emma B. Smith of Fitzgerald, Georgia and Mrs. Carol A. Smith of Vienna, Georgia; a host of nieces and nephews, many cousins, other relatives and many  sorrowing, friends, to include, Mrs. Cynthia Calhoun.
