Deacon Cleotha "Peter" McCormick of 294 Hawkeye Court, Oglethorpe, Georgia passed away Monday, December 16, 2024.
The funeral service will be held Saturday, December 28, 2024, at 4:00 PM in the chapel of the J. W. Williams Funeral Home in Cordele, Georgia.
Everyone entering the funeral home for visitations or services must wear a mask and practice social distancing. A mask must be worn throughout the stay. You must supply your mask.
Cleotha McCormick was born on August 5, 1957 in Abbeville, Georgia. The son of David McCormick and Blanche Williams, he was better known to his family and friends as "Peter". He transitioned on Monday, December 16, 2024, joining his parents, his wife, Brenda L. McCormick; his grandson, Ahmad Anderson and his siblings, Ruth Ella Wright, Blanche Butler, Louvenia Brown, Prince Ella Youngblood, Daniel McCormick, Ceward McCormick, and Malachi McCormick, in a place of perfect peace.
Peter completed his education at Wilcox County High School in Rochelle, Georgia. A believer in Jesus Christ, he was a devoted member of Springfield Baptist Church, where he served on the Deacon Board.
Known for his love of horses and the cowboy lifestyle, Peter was a member of the Platinum Riders Saddle Club and enjoyed attending trail rides and other activities.
He welcomed spending time with family and friends, as well as cheering on his favorite football teams, the Atlanta Falcons and the Georgia Bulldogs. He also showed unwavering support for the Atlanta Braves. His lively personality, zest for life, and optimistic outlook left a lasting impression on all those he encountered.
He will be deeply missed by his loving and caring family, his children, Dezsi McCormick of Lithonia, Georgia and Tarnecia McCormick of Pineview, Georgia; his beloved grandchildren, Deszi McCormick, Jr., D'Londyn McCormick, and A'mya Garmon; two great grandchildren; his brothers, Jeremiah (Ida) McCormick and Nehemiah (Rose) McCormick both of Rochelle, Georgia; his goddaughter, Shamekia McGriff of Savannah, Georgia; his nieces and nephews, to include, Sharon Wright of Rochelle, Georgia, Stanley McCormick of Stone Mountain, Georgia, Tori Brown of Abbeville, Georgia, and Daniel Brown; a host of other relatives and many sorrowing friends.
