Georgia Army National Guard Veteran, Deacon Joe Nathan Jones, Jr. of 111 Rebecca Court, Cordele, Georgia died Friday, May 24, 2024 at Fairview Park Hospital in Dublin, Georgia.
The funeral service will be held Friday, May 31, 2024 at 11:00 AM in the sanctuary of the Mount Olive Baptist Church in Americus, Georgia. The burial will follow at Bethel Cemetery in Cordele, Georgia.
Deacon Joe Nathan Jones, Jr. was welcomed to this world on October 6, 1955. He was born in Sumter County, Georgia to Mr. Joe Nathan Jones, Sr. and Ms. Bertha Mae Carter, both of whom precede him in death.
Joe was educated in the public schools of Sumter County. He was a 1974 high school graduate.
His love for the Lord was nurtured when as a young man he accepted Jesus Christ at the Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church. He served as Deacon and member of the finance committee. He was also a member of the Male Choir, a member of the Young Men's Service Ministry, a member of the Pastor's Aid Ministry and served as the Liaison for the Deacon's Ministry for the Audio & Facebook Ministry.
Brother Jones also served his community through his commitment to a number of organizations, which included: Past Master of St. Bartholomew Lodge #177, Past Master Council of Americus District #14. A member of American Legion Post #558, he was also a member of Charlie B. Brown Consistory #353 and 32nd Degree PHA Georgia.
Joe enjoyed special moments with family and friends. He was an avid Boston Celtics and Washington Commanders fan.
On Friday, May 24, 2024, our beloved transitioned from this life to life eternal. Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his siblings, Ms. Cynthia Cooper, Mr. Reginald Carter, and Mr. Daryl Carter.
Cherishing his life, he leaves precious memories to his loving and devoted wife, Missionary Crystal Faye Jones of Cordele, Georgia; his loving children, Mr. Corey Jones, Ms. Shambrell Jones Holsey, and Mr. Michael Burton all of Americus, Georgia, Mr. Quentin Furlow of Atlanta, Georgia, Miss Enekia Bryant of East Point, Georgia, Ms. Brenda Hodge and Ms. Delanda Hodge both of Americus, Georgia; his loving sisters, Ms. Eva Ruth Austin of Los Vegas, Nevada, Ms. Linda Reeves of Americus, Georgia, Ms. Bertha Ann Holt of North Carolina, Mrs. LaSandra (Gary) Williams of Valdosta, Georgia, and Ms. Valerie Carter of North Carolina; a beloved brother, Mr. Marvin Carter of New Jersey; his mother-in-law, Mother Ethel Fullwood of Cordele, Georgia; his sisters-in-law, Ms. Fonda Fullwood, Mrs. Meredith Ford, and Ms. Erica McKenzie all of Cordele, Georgia; his brother-in-law, Mr. Stacy (Brenda) Fullwood of Macon, Georgia; his godmother, Mrs. Camilla Wilson of Americus, Georgia; his godbrother, Mr. Roosevelt Wright of Americus, Georgia; his god sister, Mrs. Cheryl (Ertell) Henry of Americus, Georgia; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many sorrowing friends.
