Deacon Callaway Morris, Jr. of 458 West Washington Avenue, Ashburn, Georgia died Tuesday, August 23, 2022 at his residence.
The graveside funeral service will be held Saturday, September 3, 2022 at 11:00 AM at the Fort Early Baptist Church Cemetery in Warwick, Georgia. Everyone in attendance is asked to please wear a mask and to practice social distancing.
Deacon Callaway Morris, Jr. was born July 3, 1936 in Worth County, Georgia. He was born to the late Mr. Callaway Morris, Sr. and the late Mrs. Mary Jane Tyson Morris.
He was educated in the public schools of Worth County. He accepted Christ as his personal Savior and united with the Fort Early Baptist Church in Warwick, Georgia where he served as a Deacon.
For over 20 years he was employed as a truck driver. He was the head driver for H. C. Barber and Lewis Flake Logging Company. After retiring from truck driving, he worked for 10 years with Pasach Plantation as a head farmer.
After retiring yet again, he spent time around his loving family and friends. He enjoyed playing baseball and watching sports including the Dodgers, Yankees, and WWE Wrestling. He loved playing checkers, and making others laugh by the many jokes he shared.
On Tuesday, August 23, 2022 he transitioned from this life. Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by a grandson, Andre Marshante Morris; his sisters, Mrs. Maxie Bell Thomas, Ms. Mary Lee Morris, Ms. Flossie Morris, Ms. Loretha Morris, Ms. Maxine Morris, and Mrs. Susie Mae Morris Curry; his brothers, Mr. Homer Lee Morris, Mr. Henry Lee Morris, and Deacon Johnny B. Morris, Sr.
Many wonderful and special memories are left to his loving and devoted wife, Mrs. Jannie Mae Carter Morris of Ashburn, Georgia; his loving and devoted children, Ms. Gloria Morris, Ms. Pamela Morris, and Mrs. Katherine (James) Pitts all of Ashburn, Georgia; 14 loving grandchildren; 39 great grandchildren; his beloved brothers, Mr. Johnnie Lee Morris of Tampa, Florida and Mr. Charlie Will (Bonnie Faye) Morris of Albany, Georgia; his sisters-in-law, Mrs. Mary Lee Little of New York and Mrs. Ora Lee Morris of Warwick, Georgia; a host of nieces and nephews; many cousins, other relatives and many sorrowing friends.
