Deacon Samuel Mills of McDonough, Georgia died Sunday, April 3, 2022 at the Piedmont Henry Hospital in Stockbridge, Georgia.

The funeral service will be held Monday, April 11, 2022 at Noon on the grounds of the Spring Hill Baptist Church in Tippettville, Georgia.  The burial will follow in the churchyard cemetery.  Everyone in attendance is asked to please wear a mask and to practice social distancing.

On March 10, 1940, Samuel Mills was born in Wilcox County, Georgia to Ms. Alice Mae (Anderson) Carter and Mr. John McDonald, Jr.  He raised by R. D. Mills.

He received his education from the public schools of   Wilcox County and Grady County.

Early in life he accepted Christ as his personal Savior and united with the Spring Hill Baptist Church in Tippettville, Georgia.  He served faithfully as a deacon and member of the choir.

He was employed by the City of Atlanta Bureau of Corrections for 28 years (1966-1994), culminating a stellar career and retiring with the rank of Major.

He always enjoyed the time he spent fishing and watching television. His most enjoyable moments where those spent with his family.

On Sunday, April 3, 2022 he transitioned from this life to life eternal. Along with his parents, he is also preceded in death by his brothers, J. D. Mills, Robert McDonald, and John McDonald, III.

Many wonderful memories of his life will be cherished by his loving and devoted wife, Mrs. Martha (Dennard) Mills of McDonough, Georgia; his beloved sons, Mr. Myron Mills (Valencia) of Bogart, Georgia and Mr. Patrick Mills (Tonya) of McDonough, Georgia; his grandchildren, Mr. Akil Mills (Sammantha), Mr. Bryson Mills, and Miss Allegra Mills; his sisters, Mrs. Emma Mae King of Atlanta, Georgia, Ms. Sara Kate McDonald of Dade City, Florida, and Mrs. Bernice Green of Winter Haven, Florida; his brothers, Mr. Arthur McDonald (Gloria) of Clarksville, Tennessee, Mr. Willie McDonald (Marilyn) of San Antonio, Texas, and Mr. Willie Whitest of Hilltonia, Georgia; his aunts, Mrs. Ella Mae Pinkney of Riviera Beach, Florida, Mrs. Willie Bell Lawson of Pitts, Georgia, and Mrs. Otha Dee Stoddard of Greenville, South Carolina; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many sorrowing friends.
