Deacon Leroy Rogers was born on January 15, 1932, in Wilcox County, Abbeville, Georgia. He was the eldest child born to the late Mr. Curtis Rogers and Mrs. Delree Griffin Rogers.

Affectionately known as "Roy" by family and friends, he received his formal education in the Crisp County School System. Answering the call of duty, he enlisted in the United States Air Force, honorably serving four years with his primary station at Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

Following his military service, Deacon Rogers pursued his passion for craftsmanship, becoming an accomplished entrepreneur and master brick mason. He learned, trained, and refined his trade under the leadership of Sylvester Phillips. Throughout decades of dedicated work, Roy not only built a respected business but also took great pride in teaching, mentoring, and training others in the craft until his retirement.

Deacon Rogers accepted Christ at an early age, joining Gethsemane Missionary Baptist Church where he faithfully served as Assistant Superintendent of Sunday School under the leadership of Deacon Dan Brown. Later in life, he united in holy matrimony with Annie Ruth Barton Rogers, and to their union two sons were born: Travis Tyrone Rogers and Roderick Omar Rogers.

Deepening his walk of faith, he later joined Mount Calvary Missionary Baptist Church. Over the years, he gave wholeheartedly to the ministry, serving as Chairman of the Trustee Board, a dedicated member of the Senior Usher Board, and Assistant Superintendent of Sunday School. His devotion to service extended far into his community; he was an active member of the local Masonic Lodge, the American Legion, the Crisp County Board of Zoning Appeals, and the Historical Awards Committee, always ready to lend a helping hand wherever needed.

Deacon Leroy Rogers transitioned from this life to life eternal on Thursday, September 3, 2026. He is preceded in death by his parents; his siblings, Glenda, Bennie, Joe, Glory and Curtis; his daughter-in-law, Candace; and his lifelong friend, A. J. Rivers.
