Deacon Arthur Lee Holloway of 140 Buttercup Lane, Americus Georgia passed away Friday, October 25, 2024 at his residence.
The funeral service will be held Saturday, November 2, 2024, at 3:00 PM in the Americus Holiness Deliverance Temple sanctuary in Americus, Georgia. The burial will follow at Zion Hill Church Cemetery in Leslie, Georgia.
On November 7, 1955, the union of Horace & Minnie Jewel Holloway of Desoto, Georgia was blessed with the birth of a son. With joy and love in their hearts, they named him Arthur Lee.
Educated in the public schools of Sumter County, Arthur graduated from Union High School, Leslie, Georgia in 1973. While in high school, Arthur exceled as a member of the basketball team and also played baseball with the Desoto A's Baseball team. He continued his education at South Georgia Technical College in Americus, Georgia. He completed his course of study in 1975.
A man of faith, Arthur was introduced to the Lord early in life at the Zion Hill Baptist Church in Leslie, Georgia. He served under the leadership of Bishop George F. Edge and ordained as a Deacon. Later in life, he united with the Americus Holiness Deliverance Church, Americus, Georgia under the leadership of Pastor Michael Fowler.
Born with a strong work ethic, for 14 years Arthur was employed by Manhattan Shirt Factory, Americus, Georgia. He went on to work for Buckeye/Weyhaeuser in Oglethorpe, Georgia and after 30+ years, he retired in 2017.
Arthur was joined in holy matrimony to the former Barbara Willis on July 8, 1978. They shared 46 years of their lives together until he transitioned on Friday, October 25, 2024. He is preceded in death by his parents, Horace & Minnie Jewel Holloway; his siblings, Deacon Horace Holloway, Jr. and Deacon James Edward Holloway, Sr.; his grandparents, Deacon Walker Lee Newsome, Sr. and Mother Annie Mae Newsome; his parents-in-law, Ward Sr. & Lucille Willis; and his sister-in-law, Sarah Willis.
Memories of his life will forever be cherished by his loving and devoted wife, Barbara Willis Holloway of Americus, Georgia; his loving and devoted sons, Grant Bradford Holloway of Albany, Georgia and Jamie Alexander Holloway of Leesburg, Georgia; his adored grandchildren, Jayla Holloway, Xoe Holloway, and Blake Holloway; his caring siblings, Andrew Holloway of Decatur, Georgia, Diana (Henry) Roberts of Leslie, Georgia, Ray (Elizabeth) Holloway of Desoto, Georgia, and Michael (Mary) Holloway of Americus, Georgia; his sisters-in-law, Deborah Pride and Lisa Holloway of Americus, Georgia; his brother-in-law, Ward (Eartha) Willis, Jr. of Dacula, Georgia; several nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends, to include his devoted friend, John (Koot) Willis.
