Deacon Arthur Lee Robinson, Sr. of 722 Styles Robinson Road, Desoto, Georgia died Wednesday, February 2, 2022 at the Phoebe Sumter Medical Center in Americus, Georgia.

The funeral service will be held Wednesday, February 9, 2022 at 12:00 Noon on the grounds of the New Beulah Baptist Church in Cobb, Georgia.  The burial will follow at the Sue Walker Cemetery in Cobb, Georgia.  Everyone in attendance is asked to please wear a mask and to practice social distancing.

Dependable, prompt, humorous, boisterous, friendly to so many, loud and proud, God-loving, and good looking are just a few words to describe Deacon Arthur Lee Robinson, Sr. During most New Year's church services, Arthur would say that he was still on the train. He would say to all in attendance that he still had his ticket in his pocket. Arthur was glad and thankful. Moreover, he gave all praise and deservedness to God Almighty. On February 02, 2022, exactly one month following his 83rd birthday, Arthur finally redeemed his earthly ticket for the golden ticket of eternal life. He reached his eternal destination right on time with no delays and no connections needed. Arthur was immediately upgraded to first class with no extra fees. He declared his cattle, his tractor, his comfy chair, his westerns, and his Atlanta Braves at the gate. After one backwards glance at Mamie, he stepped aboard the Master's train for eternity.

Deacon Arthur Lee Robinson, Sr. was born in Desoto, GA on January 02, 1939 to the holy matrimony of the late Deacon Jeff Robinson, Sr., a farmer and the late Deaconess Janie Williams Robinson, a teacher. Raised in a Christian home, the fifth of ten children, Arthur joined the New Beulah Baptist Church in Lee County, Georgia at an early age. He also attended the New Beulah Baptist Church School. He hit the ground working. He carried firewood to make the morning fires so that there could be school and church. Following in his father's footsteps, he became a deacon. Always working tirelessly, Arthur loved singing, praying, leading devotion, conducting communion, visiting the sick and shut-in, baptizing new candidates in the creek and anything that afforded him the opportunity to edify the kingdom of God. He mentored many upcoming deacons and all that sought his counsel. Arthur's signature characteristic on the Deacon Board was his ability to uplift a preacher like a fan in the stands at a baseball game. Arthur was faithful around New Beulah Baptist Church. There was never a job too small. Arthur took charge of transport and food preparation for the New Beulah Baptist Church Sunday School picnics at Crystal Lake and Lake Blackshear Veterans State Park. Arthur was the Trustee of the Deacon Board and the Superintendent of Sunday School until the time of his death. Most of these positions within the church were legacy positions that he held since the 60s and 70s. Additionally, he represented New Beulah Baptist Church within the community by participating and accepting many  invitations of fellowship with other area churches. He was purposeful and participatory in his church actions. He was often heard giving affirmations throughout the church services. Arthur was multifaceted in his religion. He represented the New Beulah Baptist Church within the Friendship Baptist Association for over 30 years. He held several chairs and presidential positions within the association. Deacon Arthur Lee Robinson, Sr.'s voice will be missed in his church community.

Deacon Arthur Lee Robinson, Sr. loved his family. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved grandson, Calvin Patrick Jones, his siblings, Lucreasie Robinson, Thelma Robinson, Cecil Robinson, Sr., Pertha Robinson, Sr., Donell Robinson, Sr., Arlena Robinson Allen, Reverend Bobby Robinson, Sr., his stepmom, Dessie Bell Dowdell Robinson Salvage and his best friend, Willis Wright.

Always good with his hands, Arthur became an automotive mechanic with Pettis Tire Company in Cordele, Georgia where he appeared in television advertisements. He retired after 30 years of dedicated service. Yet, retirement only provided him with more time to plant a garden, grow pecans, raise cattle and ride around the pond. He was never idle. Arthur was a former member of the Fraternal Order of Masons out of Cordele, Georgia. He was a dedicated voter and an avid pit master. His barbecue sauce was legendary.

Deacon Arthur Lee Robinson, Sr. also worked on the family farm and drove school buses along with his father and his brother. Always obedient to his parents, in 1960, Arthur's father asked him to drive his Lee County School bus to transport the basketball players. Arthur met the love of his life that day, a point guard, Mamie Snead. In consistent fashion, he called her name, MAMIE, until his final breath on Tuesday when he boarded that eternal train.

Although Arthur received his golden ticket to eternity, his legacy of love continues down the track with his loving wife of 58 years, Mamie Snead Robinson. Deacon Arthur Lee Robinson, Sr. led an amazing, fulfilled and nothing left unsaid life. Well known in his community, some called him OZ, others called him Deac, but Mamie lovingly called him "Henry"; a name given to him by his mother. He was a devoted husband, daddy, granddaddy, brother, uncle and friend. He will truly be missed. His lord said unto him, "Well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord."
